From "Minute Motivators for Dieters," by Stan Toler

Focus on the positive.

"The optimist has no brakes; the pessimist has no motor."
~Melvin M. Maxwell

Discouragement

Losing weight is a struggle. Maintaining good dietary habits doesn't come naturally to most people. You can expect to become discouraged from time to time. Don't stay there. Don't look at where you are. Look at where you're going.

A little girl fell out of her bed with a thud. Her mother went running into her room, "What in the world happened? I heard you all the way downstairs."

Dusting herself off and straightening her pajamas, the little girl responded, "Well, Mother, I guess I was moving around in my bed, and I just got too close to where I got in!"

Don't be dominated by a setback. There will be times when you lose a battle or skirmish here and there. But that doesn't mean you've lost the war. Dieting should always be in the future tense, not the past tense. Dwell on where you are going, not on where you are or where you have been. The direction in which you choose to look will determine the course of your progress.

Good devotion! Thanks!!!!

I know I get caught up in my mistakes and that's not good. Cause then I use it as an excuse to eat more.

Focus on Christ and He will see us through!

Just this morning as I was on my walk, the Lord was showing me how when we blow it, the enemy hovers over us as says, "Stay down, you can't do it!" But at the same time, Jesus is there with His hand held out saying, "Come on, here's my hand, get back up and let's keep going."

Phil. 4:13 :)

Tim, when we blow it we can blame no one but us! When we receive it we can credit no one but God! Pretty simple. May we do what we need to do and let God be God.

I really liked this post and all of your comments, it's so true. I can sure identify with the fact that the enemy takes advantage of us when we are down, or even when we are just tired and not alert. So, as dieters we need to stay alert to the times when temptation (food) causes the most problems for us and ask for God to help us.

Eapecially when we are tired and not alert we need to be reminded that Jesus said, "Watch and pray."
