From "Devotions for Dieter's," by H. Victor Kane Food Of Which You Do Not Know But he said to them, "I have food to eat of which you do not know." John 4:32 "Too busy to eat." Has that ever been a part of your experience? Alas and alack, not for most of us. We may not find time to do the things we should, but we are seldom too preoccupied to be present at the table. For the disciples of Jesus, too, the dinner bell rang right on time! Their Master had found someone who needed his help, and for him such an opportunity was like ice cream and cake for you and me. Can't you see Simon Peter, waiting impatiently, take a tighter tuck in the rope around his robe? Soon he grumbles to brother Andrew, "This person is imposing on him. If Jesus doesn't think about himself, we'll have to break it up. I'm hungry!" The disciples are due for a big surprise, for no sooner have they interrupted than the Rabbi replies,"Why did you bother me? I have food of which you do not know." As Peter slinks away (hungrier than ever) he whispers, obviously missing the point: "I didn't know he had a sandwich with him." A doctor who frequently urged us to diet revealed that he had once weighed over the two hundred mark. He decided to work straight through the noon hour and forego lunch. By eating normally at the other two meals, he soon got down to his prescribed weight. An ample breakfast and a balanced supper worked out well for him. Maybe this way of life will not be the answer for you, but developing new interests that occupy the mind will be of great help. Loafing and gorging seem to go together. "Sandwich spread," someone said, "is what you get from eating between meals." We usually gain more weight on vacations, when we have little to do, than when we are busy. When "time hangs heavy," some of the weight gets hung on us. Books, hobbies, walking, and constructive activity in some worthy cause can fill not only the empty hours but those craving cavities as well. Maybe it all boils down to this: Keep busy and keep thin. |

Good Morning,
This part is so relevant for me --- particularily at night. Keep busy and keep thin will be a goal that I will add to my covenant. Keep Busy!! |

I agree with you, Cully. Right now, despite my "busyness" I don't feel fulfilled. I need to have the mind of Christ in me once more. |
