Week-end Wonder Challenge; Going totally honest for the weekend

This will be our accountability thread. It is in preparation of our normal Monday weigh-ins at GT.

In this thread we plan our stragedies, and on the weekends we pay special attention to tracking what we eat by posting our menu's and weight. Many times I have had a good weig-in on a Friday, and by Monday have had to post a gain.

Any other ideas to beef this challenge up is welcomed.

Great Candy.
I have often said that I must think calories on weekends did not count.
I am going to weigh on Friday Morning and report and weigh again on Monday Morning.
I ate 3 meals out last weekend. I did not eat over my calorie count;
I did not report my intake on GTD. I was embarrassed to do so.
Friday and Saturday was too much sodium.
Calories were indeed on the high end of 1000-1600
Saturday 1402
Friday-1544

Posting what I eat will prevent me from a day like yesterday. Total mayhem. And I usually don't weigh-in on the weekend. The truth, we are told, will set us free.

I had a controled day yesterday, and I will again today.

I was encouraged to see a very modest loss and I am weighing in today at 206.2.

I am glad Faye is doing this challenge as we pinpoint a cycle whee we "relax" food wise on the weekends.

This is my meal plan for the day and I will edit it if I do add to it.

3 glasses of Orange Juice 360 calories.

1 stuffed pepper 320 calories

1 banana 110

1/2 cup milk 60

I am also going to attempt being sweet free on the weekends.

My calories total 850 which sounds awful low, but we'll see how this challenge goes.

Remember, if we can do it on a weekend, we can do it anytime.

Faye, what does the Vegenaise Dressing go on?

I looked on SparkPeople for the weekend warriors and couldn't find them.

My blessing for the day is that Rowan, my pup is keeping me busy. How is your good girl?

I remind myself that every new chllenge is exciting. I remind myself that without God's grace for the day I am nothing and I accomplish nothing.

Do you make your own Ezekial bread?

LOrd, clear the UTI infection Faye has. Lord, give her diet grace for this day. Lord, ease her mourning for Mother. And Lord bless her this day in the gift of encouragement and may others return that blessing to her, through Christ Jesus. Amen

Faye, it helped me just "talking".

It is called "SP's Weekend Survival Team"
It has 51,929 members. Way too many for me. I just quit this team today.
I like the idea; but I could not get into the group. If you find it an join; Let me know I will try it again,

Vegenaise Dressing amounts to mayo from the health food store and we use it like mayo.
My Ezekiel bread comes from the health food store.
Thank you for your prayer Candy.
I missed Mother so much yesterday when I was feeling sorry for myself being sick and thought about the fact that I no longer had her to call, inquiring about me. I grabbed a pillow and hugged and hugged it.
Both a wonderful and sad feeling.
I am so very fortunate to have had her for 70 years loving, caring and calling me.
God gave me to a wonderful loving woman. Thank you Lord for my Mother.
It helps me to "talk" to you too.
Only God knows how much I missed you when you were sick & I was not able to "talk" to you.
Thank you Lord for putting another wonderful woman in my life.

Hi Faye. I "sensed" a loss day with your Mother. People do not realize the significance of the loss because they feel someone that age has lived a long and fruitful life. It is too fresh to feel comforted and your Mother was one you could count on. You had known her longer than your own spouse. I feel for your loss and I know it will be awhile yet, so anytime you want to "talk" feel free.

I really had a struggle today with my committment, but the Lord had me prevail. I wanted more food, NOT because I was hungry, but because the flesh felt like snacking. I was so fortunate to take a nap and when I woke up the propensity to nibble had passed. Yay! I am already attempting to plan a menu for tomorrow. It sure helped me out today and I hope others will join in for a weekend committment, especially if they are not keeping a weekday committment.

Thank you for being my online friend and for inspiring me. As you would say now, "The kitchen is closed."

My kitchen is not closed.
I made Tuna Fish Salad for Fred when he got home.
I did not finish eating my apples until 3:30.
Charlene is picking me up in a few minutes to go to Walmart.
I'll eat my Tuna when I we get back.
So far I have eaten exactly what is on my menu except I have not had my tomato juice.
I wil;l because I need it for my potassium.

Fred went to McDonald's and got a salad for himself.
I chose to have something at home so I would not eat so much Sodium
My Sodium total so far today 395 and I try to keep it under 2300. I should be okay

I got a chuckle about the pumpkin pie.

Dinner - maybe 1 cup of mac and cheese? I was not really hungary....

I just input my calories - and I probably did pretty good. I was thinking about not going wild today....

We are so far apart and yet plagued with the same temptations.
Charlene made Deviled Eggs for lunch and I did not include them in my meal plan.
They were sitting right in front of me. They were double yolks; So big and probably so delicious.
I did not feel full when I finished my hamburger and carrot sticks.
A perfect opportunity for cave in.
I resisted temptation; I got up and started washing dishes.
I was fine all afternoon.
I will be fine tonight with my Apples and Walnuts.
Looks like we made it through our first Weekend Wonder Challenge. PTL

I got up early and put my meal plan in here.
It takes a lot of time to put it in here.
I love using SparkPeople for my food journal.
I use it everyday.

I have a FitDay account. With that account you can post your journal and allow others to see it with a link, but it is easier for me to just post the things I eat here. I will only be posting for the weekends so it is not a chore. Dave used to do that in Dave's Daily Delights.

If you use Sparkpeople's journal, if you want to leave a link it is fine.

I cannot believe you passed on the Deviled Eggs. Oh my, my mouth is watering just for that.

You did excellent on this challenge and I hope it pays off with a loss when you weigh yourself tomorrow. I did not realize how lax I was on the weekends. And gratefully there is only one slice of pumpkin pie left and I was able to resist it before it disappeared.

Hoping Lori had a good weekend.

Thank you for getting us started with a new challenge, Faye.

Way to go resisting the pumpkin pie!!!!!!!
I am sure those Deviled Eggs were as wonderful as they looked.
Made my mouth water too! Probably the reason my planned lunch menu fell short of satisfaction.
I am sure they were not as good as being able to tell you I resisted them has been.

Thank you Lord for seeing us thru our first weekend.
Thank you for all the fellowship we have enjoyed.

Sundays are always busy for me....

BFast - cereal, milk (my usual bfast - kashi today)

Lunch - pork roast and beef roast - 6 oz?, 1/2 broiled potato wedges, big salad (actually put my meat on it - delicious)....

Dinner - nachos, mostly chips, some chicken (not sure about cheese) and salsa and 1/2 of a mushroom quesadilla.

restaurant chips - so not much salt.... so hopefully it was good for tomorrow.....

It will be so much easier when we have our scales unpacked.... :)

My scale is still telling me I am a bit less than 190.
I still refuse to claim any thing until I can get past what I have been seeing all year.
Scale did not look as promising as It did yesterday morning.
Back to the statement I have often posted here: What would I weigh, if I quit trying? Scary!!
Can't stop.
Great fellowship for weekend challenge.
Planning to do it again next weekend.

Glad to be back. Glad you are staying strong, Faye, even though the higher end of calories does not help us out. I ate :loss: this week. I did not go over my high end calorie range, but I went back to unhealthy habits of eating what I do not need to as extras. Weighing in at 206.6.

Today's menu:

1/2 cup of milk 60
3 glasses of OJ 360
2 eggs 156
1 slice of swiss cheese 110
2 hamburger buns 280
2 T mayonaise 180

Tough week!
I went to the doctor on Tuesday. Pain in my heal. Dr. prescribed a drug for inflamation.
My foot was hurting a lot by the time we got home yesterday.
Feels better this morning.
One of the possible side efects of the drug is BP elevation.
BP has been higher than usual. Is it the medication or stress. Probably both?
We ate lunch out yesterday. Calories okay. Sodium too high.

Hi all - well I am following a specific diet - and I am staying on it.... had Bok Choy for dinner - might be the last time.... LOL'

I really do like having a specific menu to follow - I am NOT even eating off of it... but they have you eating 3 meals and 2 snacks....

Well how about some great news - this morning when I weighed myself - I had a very pleasant surprise - 225 lbs I have lost 5 lbs so far this week!!!

Faye, you stayed within your calorie range. Portion control is still the key.

Lori, what fantastic news! I have never had Bok Choy. I'll now know to turn it down.

Weighing in at 204.8 a loss for the day but a gain for the week.

Yesterday I totally blew it. Dick bought me 2 boxes of chocolate covered cherries for Sweetest Day. These are my favorite and I had 6 which gave me 360 additional calories. Fortunately I was low on calories yeaterday and this only brought my total to 1191. Still the point is not to deviate from our menu plan.

Today's Plan

1/2 cup milk 55
3 glasses of OJ 360
1 pork sausage 457
1 cup stewed cabbage 50
1 cup buttermilk 110
1 hamburger bun 140

Good for you sticking to your menu, Faye. The scale is never happy with me. I know I have to eat around 1200 calories per day to lose weight. It is just too easy to pop things in my mouth that I don't need.

I had a gain this week but not as bad as it would have been without the weekend challenge.

:morn: My GTF
Thank You for the "1200" calorie remark.
I have said that for years.
How did I forget it?
I am going to change my high end calorie count as soon as I get back on SparkPeople.
It was much easier to eat 1200 calories or less when I ate no breakfast.
It was difficult for me to learn to enjoy breakfast.
That "most important meal of the day" mentality finally got me, and I made myself start eating breakfast.
Can I or do I want or need to quit eating breakfast?
I must remember my body is unique to me.
What is more important for me, breakfast or a normal weight? :bam:
Is that the only 2 choices I have?
It is time for much prayer and consideration!!!!!!
Can I limit my calorie intake to 1200 having already eaten breakfast?
We ill see.
Scales yelped at the 190 pounds I put on it this morning.
