My view: 1.Plax 2.Toomer 3.Hixon 4 Smith 5.Moss 6.Manningham ---------------------------- 7.London London didn't help himself last night. That's too bad, because I think he has just as much, if not more talent than Manningham right now. If they keep an extra safety, London is ass out. |

They are not going to keep 7 wrs (you even said this)out of this group, especially with Tyree on pup. This sucks,I like London, but like I said,if we release him no way he lasts to the practice squad(especially with Dallas now down to TO and Crayton as their only proven healthy WRs) .Have to give it up to Moss for stepping up(we got the B team on the Giants radio network last night, they all commented how smooth Moss looked this year, and how confident he seemed to look running routes, making the right sight option reads) But what do we do with Droughns?he obviously got beat out by Ware, but he is so valuable on ST's and can play FB? We probably now have to waste a roster for a kicker now unless Tynes gets healthy. And do we keep Madison?I would and make him a hybrid matchup CB/safety type,so we won't have to keep an extra S. I also put Wright on pup for now,let him heal, this way Woodson gets more reps with the scout team, then we can figure out to do with Wright at a later date. |

Wow,just noticed you had Hixon as the #3,I can't argue at this point, but IMO Smith has proven to be a perfect slot reciever in a 3 wr set, especially running the hot option routes(like he did last year),don't quite know how Hixon would do in that role,he seems more like an outside guy. What a sick 4 WR set we can throw out, even a 5 WR set if Moss has indeed developed like he seems to have shown signs of(and part of me is now cringing at the thought of Gilbride seeing this and thinking "wow,I can now run the run and shoot all the time with this team") |

I just can't help but think that the coaching staff is a little sick of Smith being hurt and he dropped quite a few passes this preseason when he was on the field. Compare that to what Hixon has done and I don't know if he didn't win that #3 spot. Not sure though, it's certainly not a no-brainer but something tells me Hixon will get more time than Smith to start the season. I wouldn't be surprised if I were wrong though. I do agree, they can't keep 7 WRs, especially when none of them contribute heavily on coverage teams, and since I have a feeling they keep 6 CBs or 5 S. If it were me, Madison and Schweigert stay....RW goes. Another close call though. Like I said above, they might both stay (madison/rw), but I hope not. I can't go another season watching RW return punts. Droughns would have no chance if again - it were up to me. Yes, he's a good ST's guy, but I don't think we would feel it if he weren't there. Banks brought up a good point about the financial aspect too. Do you keep an old, slow Droughns or a talented kid who showed a great deal of potential and who will cost you a fraction of the price? I honestly don't think there's a question there. If God forbid we had to use our #4 RB, I would feel much better with Ware than Droughns. |

The thing is,who HAS stepped up as punt returner? At least RW secures posession.Moss, while probably having the best skills as a PR,probably haw dropped a lot in camp and scares the hell out of the staff. I don't think Droughns is that expensive, and if it came down to Droughns or Douglas,I would be pissed if we kept Douglas. We can keep 6 WRs and keep Tyree pup'ed because there will be open roster spots as unfortunately we will probably lose someone else to injury(hopefully unimportant) I can see Hiixon getting a lot of action.Hixon gives us an element we haven't had since Ron Dixon teased us,a reciever that is a threat after the catch on slants, crossing patterns, and posts. As far as the bubble recievers,Moss has the highest trade value. |

RW dropped a punt vs the Jets this preseason. He also fumbled several times last year. So although he does secure the ball for the most part, he's far from perfect in that respect. Just keep the PR position in mind when watching other teams opening week. Then tell me which team has a slower player returning punts, a player who has less ability to make big plays. I'd be shocked if you can come up with even one. I can't make the determination as to why Moss nor Bradshaw haven't won that job. Maybe it is ball control, I would imagine it is. But even with that, I haven't seen Bradshaw drop anything. Nobody can convince me that he's not the best option right now. |

I can't quite remember, but I thought Bradshaw was given the chance to run back punts and kick offs last pre-season and he did fumble a time or two. Either way I do think you're correct in determining that he or Moss will have the job soon. I'm just getting the feeling the staff is giving McQ a chance to play himself on or off the team. I guess we'll find out later today when some cuts are announced. Look for Moss and/or Bradshaw as returners come Thursday I dare say. |

I hope you're right. And yes, I do believe Bradshaw fumbled twice returning kicks last preaseason. Or was it Ward? Wasn't it Ward, and that's why we started to see Bradshaw back there? I'm not sure. |

McQ can't be long for the team with the drafting of Thomas and the younger more athletic CB's they have on the roster. Though, are DB's are fragile lil bitches! |
