I guess I stand to be corrected................

According to Ralphie V's blog in the Daily News the Strahan issue just may have been raised by the organization.......

Giants to explore all options to replace Osi
Tom Coughlin was tight-lipped about his plans to replace Osi Umenyiora at defensive end. But he refused to rule anything out - including the possible return of Michael Strahan.

Though it would seem to be a longshot possibility, Coughlin said the issue of Strahan was “raised” in the Giants offices today, especially since they knew it was being discussed in the media. And he said it’s one of the many options he expects the Giants to eventually explore.

“I haven’t really talked to anyone at this point in time to be honest with you,” Coughlin said. “I’m sure that Jerry Reese and I and ownership will look long and hard at whatever options there are out there and do what’s best at this point in time.”

Obviously luring Strahan out of retirement has to be an intriguing possibility, even though multiple sources close to the ex-Giant said today it’s “doubtful” he’d consider a return. It likely would cost the Giants at least the $8 million he was seeking before his retirement in June. They weren’t willing to pay it then, but they might be more desperate now.

Of course, it’s also possible that Coughlin was just being coy, refusing to rule out any possibility.

“The only thing I’ve talked to Michael about is his new challenge, moving forward in his new assignment,” Coughlin said. “And he was very excited about that.”

Coughlin also declined to discuss the more likely possibility of moving LB Mathias Kiwanuka back to his original position to fill Umenyiora’s spot along the defensive line.

“I have not had a chance to talk to anyone, to talk to any of the players or Kiwi or anyone this afternoon,” Coughlin said. “Until I do that, I’ll just refrain from any thoughts about what might happen within our team.”

"Doubtful" is not "no".

Sigh... let me have my dream, dammit.

And I bet the dicktouchers at ESPN are probably openly gloating and laughing at the injury, being that they are on the Jerry Jones propaganda payroll....

Anyways, what I would do,and probably going to happen.
Kiwi replaces Osi,Clark gets the WIL he has beem playing at,and Wilkerson goes to the SAM,as he is very athletic and has pass rush ability(he did play DE at times at Ga Tech)
And I would give Simeon Rice a call, try to sign him as a situational pass rusher, give him 20 to 25 plays a game.

Mother fucker. This sucks.

I don't see Mike coming back at all. Probably 99% chance he stays retired.

I would like to see Kiwanuka back on the ends with Tuck, and just fill the gap left at MLB with someone already mentioned such as Wilkinson.

G1,I meant that sign Rice for depth and for rotation purposes.
I agree that the no brainer move is to move Kiwi up.
But we need depth at DE now,all we have is Tollefson, and Wynn is more a hybrid DE,DT.
Something to keep in mind, this organization won't panic, you will not see us spew away draft picks for a stop gap.
I think Spags will come up with something.
We are still a solid playoff team, and again, who knows once we get there.
Our offense will be more explosive and productive.

Well, it looks like Stra is coming back ("8 mil and a few kind words?"). No one can replace Osi, but I doubt the season is lost.

That said: "FUCKING PRE-SEASON BULLSHIT!!!!"

I doubt that Strahan returns, why should he? I would love to see his return but I think #92 will stay out having his last NFL memory being Super Bowl XLII and doing what no one thought was possible!
