Told you guys that this Danny Ware RB was a steal when we signed him off the Jets practice squad. Another explosive shifty back with a little power. Probably means that Droughns is a gonner, shame, while not flashy,he was dependable and could do a little bit of everything |

Kay-Jay Harris hurt. Dammit. Hixon had an amazing game! Eli not too shabby.... 4/7, 2TDs, NO INTs! Once again, no shortage of morons around. One idiot said something about Strahan's play. Um, hi, not even a #92 on the field! Another idiot on a dropped pass by Jennings, "That wasn't Wright's fault, that's all the receiver." Too bad it was CARR that threw the pass. Slight differences in the 2 of them.... They showed the Top 5 Giants running plays (I've seen it on that Big Blue whatever show that Poppa does with that chick) & when Tiki's game was #1, the fans booed him. They showed Strahan on the Jumbo-Tran & the crowd went nuts - cheering & hollering! Oh well. Showed post-season clips & when they showed Eli's "great escape" everyone went crazy, same as when they showed "the catch" right after. Can't wait to go to a "real" game, but Jenn enjoyed her first Giants game (she has been to Tennants games) & she saw her first NFL safety. Turns out it wasn't one of the Giants that deflected the kick, but one of the Browns linemen. Sucker. |

Here is a thought. Is it that Eli is at the point where he is at a level where he can raise the level of the recievers around him(hell,Moss actually looked decent as well),or was it a case of Hixon just stepping up bigtime when given a chance(IMO,combination of both IMO).The fact that the Giants had no reciever higher than 4 on the depth chart on the field at any time is scary good. And again, the Gints can send out any RB and they kick ass. The one thing that concerns me are out TE's getting stood up at the point of attack on running plays, might have to coax Kyle Brady out of retirement here. I think Carr locked up the #2 spot, seems more confident, and made some nice throws. Jennings,Droughns(meh, too bad,#s game, younger cheaper alt) look to be dead men walking. Why is Douglas still wasting a roster spot? |

While Eli is definitely maturing, I think tonight was Hixon stepping up, wanting to make a positive impression on the coaches (& Giants fans) in his quest to not only remain on the roster, but be the #4 (or possibly 3) receiver. |

**Point of inquiry because I am not averse to all the new roster rules yet (& this may have been answered in a previous post).... do players on the PUP list count against the 80-man roster the NFL allows for camp? |

I guess this is why J. Reese gets paid the big money. It's going to be a tough decision to make. I would say that (obviously) Jacobs, Bradshaw, and Ward make the team. Hence it comes down to Ware and Droughns. And I don't think the Giants want to lose either. Anybody know the rules concerning the practice squad? Can the Giants bunk away Ware without the possibility of anyone signing him? Am I correct by saying the Giants can protect him because he hasn't played a down for them in a regular season game or am I fantasizing again? WTF I wouldn't have a problem with a trade either. As I've said this team is primed for the next few years and if the organization can stockpile draft picks it only makes things sweeter. |

Now Danny Ware is trade bait?? Geno, Geno, Geno.....It really doesn't take much to impress you people, does it? Don't you think if a team needed a RB, they could pick up any number of rookie FA's with similar talent of Danny Ware? Don't get me wrong, I really like the kid...but damn. Settle down folks. Nobody is trading for Danny Ware. If you're talking about trading Ward, that's just silly. You don't trade a solid backup RB unless you're getting a quality backup RB in return. And in that case....why? That said, we have some good backup Safeties who should be able to pick up for the loss of Droughns on ST's. I keep the young talent. Droughns brings close to zero value on the offensive side of the ball imo. And if anynody thinks we should take out our 265lb back in short yardage situations like we did the first portion of the year last year, in place of an over the hill, slow, significantly less talented and less than powerful replacement.....I'll fight you. I'll fight you right now. ![]() |

Never said they were gonna grab a #2 with the guy.....just implying I'd rather get a pick for him (ala Ryan Grant) than let him (or Droughns) go for nothing.......... |

I never said they'd get a #2 RB for Ware either, I'm crazy....not stupid. I was referring to Ward. Trust me, if no team had even a remote interest in him after the Jets, then nobody is trading for a player because of a good preseason game against 3rd team talent. I'm just sayin'... |

And if there's a player I look to move right now, it's Plaxico Burress. I know that sounds crazy, but I'm sorry...if I were the GM or coach, I can't have a guy who doesn't practice for another year. Yes, it worked out fine last year, but I'm just sick of it. I also don't give a long term contract to a guy who seems pretty obvious to have degenerative ankles. These things don't get better in time, they get worse. So talk about not offering somebody a contract and trading them to get value this year rather than nothing next year....it's this f'n guy. |

Has to be the only reason why the organization has yet to extend his contract when its looked like any number of times in the recent past it was a done deal. |
