New Meadowlands Rules

So I saw that the NJSEA made the decisions to hang banners on the spirals, limit our tailgating time to five hours, and to revoke our season tickets if somebody gets ejected while in possession of our tickets. I support the decision to hang the banners, as it was wrong what happened there during the Jets games and overall just an absolute disgrace. However, I feel it is wrong for them to further limit the time we have to tailgate and to revoke our tickets without hearing our side of the story.

Now I know the PSL charges were necessary, but if I need to sell my tickets for a couple of games in order to purchase these PSL's for more than the near-face prices I would need to sell them for on the Ticket Exchange, I don't feel it should be my responsibility to monitor the activities going on while I'm not there. They tell us it is a privilege to have these tickets. Well, I paid for the RIGHT to these seats. I would like to be able to explain what happened and possibly not have my tickets taken away when the only reason they were sold was to find funding to keep them. I would be much more staisfied with a two-strike system, where you get a warning the first time and they get removed after another offense, or with a fine system where the amount of money raises with each offense. If I were to find my tickets were taken out of my name, I would be absolutely devastated, especially if I did not know about the offense.

Secondly, I am not pleased with the new five hour limit on tailgating instead of the old seven hour rule. Our tailgate party of fifty-plus fans each week (and still growing) has been going on for generations. We have people coming from New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut. Sometimes, we even get there for breakfast, arriving there before the seven hours and waiting at the entrace to the lot. Now, it appears that we will no longer be able to get our full tailgating experience, and it also would seem traffic entering the stadium will be worse, since with less time, arrivals will be closer together. What I would like to see is a fight from the fans, or at least the hardcore tailgaters like our group. I would like to see RV's, vans, cars, trucks, mopeds, bikes, skateboards, whatever arriving seven hours early to the game. I would like to see the line backed up into Routes 3 and 17, as well as the turnpike, obstructing the traffic and showing the NJSEA that we have the RIGHT to tailgate the way we used to. If they're really worried about alcohol consumption, shouldn't they change the no sales after halftime rule? If we could somehow manage to complete this protest, I think it would surely send a clear message to the Authority.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, just a fan offering my take and my solutions to what I see as problems. Thanks for taking the time to read my complaints about the new rules.

They're not going to revoke your tickets if the person you sold them to gets ejected. They revoke the tickets of season ticket holders that get ejected. If someone in possession of your tix get ejected, you will get a warning.

Moral of the story: use your tix or give them up.... don't sell them to the highest drunken bidder.

I'm not thrilled about the limited tailgating time either. I like to leave my house by 8-8:30, at the latest, regardless of game start time, to beat the clusterfuck that is traffic on the LIE.

And, in regards to the new rules in effect this year, and prior years, (beer cutoff time, these new banners, etc... It even affected the rules of the games buses to the stadium) all stem from Jets fans acting like a bunch of douches, I don't know why we didn't send them packing... but, that's a whole 'nother rant. -_-

As much as I love tailgating, I don't think it is our right to tailgate. There are plenty of sporting venues where tailgating is not allowed at all. I know that some people get there really early, but we have never really tailgated more than 5 hours prior to a game anyway, so it doesn't really affect me. Unfortunately, changing the beer sales policy inside the stadium won't necessarily help with the alcohol consumption. I have seen people drink A LOT of beer both before & after the game, so they don't care about beer inside. I have also seen people who didn't drink anything during the game & still leave plastered because they drank so much prior to the game while tailgating.

NJSEA won't back down if fans stage a protest. They'll probably go the other way & limit the time even more & ultimately ban tailgating. Wouldn't surprise me at all.

If you sold your tickets to someone and they get ejected, you get a warning. Get 3 warnings and your tickets are revoked

Or at least thats what I thought I read :dunno:

In effect, never inforced.

Maybe they'll actually enforce it this time 'round!
