Former 3rd round pick of Oakland in '04. Was a good college player. Not a very good pro. Good depth I suppose, as if we didn't have depth at that position right now. :dunno:

This signing is definitely a head scratcher.

With the new 80 man rule why bring this guy in?

Like they were saying on the tv broadcast of the Lions game it isn't beneficial to the team that there are no extra Kickers or Punters on the roster.

So if you have a roster spot open why not bring in someone to fill either of those positions? If for no other reason than to give Tynes and Feagles time to rest?

Give Feagles time to rest! He is 62, after all! He ain't gettin' any younger! Give the guy a rest! We know HE can do his job! As far as Tynes... he needs the work! Make him kick!

My guess is that we have 23,000 WR's, only one of whom can get down the field to make a tackle on ST's...and he's hurt. So maybe this is purely a ST's move? I dunno.

Maybe they signed him to be on the ground, so they can practice stepping over guys that miss tackles & avoid get caught up in them & their jersey? :dunno:

Hasn't this guy already been signed and released once or twice between the time that he was released and the time he was signed by us?

haha

I'll tell ya what, after we've sufficiently trashed him, don't be surprised if he becomes a very productive ST player for us. That's the only way he makes the team, I think that's pretty obvious, but I do think he has skills to help us on the coverage teams. At the right price, which I would imagine is minimal, he could fit in nicely there. If he beats out Dahl, which is a possibility, he could make the team as a 5th safety.

Phillips
Butler
Knight
Johnson
Dahl/Stewy

Just re-spinning the story because I'm bored.

Redskins signed him and released him a few days ago. As a Redskins fan myself, I would not read into that too much. The Redskins drafted in later rounds, two safeties and Schweigert just ran out of opportunity.

Why,so he can be that guy who is always on the ground for the Giants?
You notice that he is the only guy in most of those pics with a dirty uniform?

If indeed this is the reason the Giants signed him I wonder if this signals Tyree might be moved from the PUP to IR?
