--Goff broke a bone in his back.......whatever a "transverse process" is.......could be a season ender......... --KP looked good. By my count he had 4 unassisted tackles.......2 in the backfield. --Brandon London had a nice 29 yard grab from Carr in the 3rd....... --Ware had a nice 11 yard TD run on a draw, but it was called back because Jerome Collins was flagged for a hit in the back.......replay showed the call was absurd. --The Giants scored on the drive anyway as Carr hit Crappy Thorpe for a 13 yarder....... --DeOssie had a rough night.......missed a couple of tackles.......on one particular play (3rd and Short for Detroit) the Giants stacked the RB and DeOssie took an angle such when he hit the pile he moved it forward.......Detroit still fell short of the 1st Down, but the TV camera caught Spags on the sideline and he was (ahem) letting Mr. DeOssie know that wasn't a particularly smart play to make. --Wright played the entire second QTR and was 9 for 13 for 116 yards. --Carr played the entire 2nd Half. By my unofficial count he was 10 for 13 for 105 yards and 1 TD. --Giants were pretty sloppy inthe 2nd Half, but wtf it was the 1st pre-season game and a lot of these guys aren't going to be around much longer anyway..... |

He did look shakey back there and his delivery was somewhat stiff. But in his defense he wasn't with the 1st team. I don't recall anyone dropping any passes, but there was one time he had to blow a time out because D.J. Hall lined up in the wrong position. The 2 minute drill at the end of the game was a clusterfuck, but again in his defense it's tough to judge because of the personel that was surrounding him. Carr was called for an intentional grounding because one of the rookies whiffed on a block.......Whimper was called for an asinine False Start.......and the aformentioned Hall gaffe that cost the Giants a time out. |

I loved the "surprise" whenever Carr passed well (which, overall, I was content with considering the surrounding offense) and all I kept thinking was ... they do know this "kid" isn't a rookie, don't they? I'm not thrilled with the overall play of the team, but, considering it's not only the first preseason game, and a good portion of folks were on the sidelines, I'll save my distress for next week.

I can't believe nobody mentioned the best player on the field last night. Chase Blackburn It's hard to tell from the competition he was playing, but is there much of a question that K.Phillips will be starting the 1st game? I know, I know....let's see him against first team competition, but it's not as if we have Ronnie Lott and Ed Reed back there right now. The kid is gifted. That move Jacobs put on that safety on the way to the 27 yard run was out-fucking-standing. Outstanding for a scat-back. Freakish for a 6'4" 265lb back. Totally freakish. It would been better to see him leap over the guy who took him down around his shoelaces, and trot into the endzone..., but I'll take it. I like Brandon London. I just like him. He's 'catcherish'. I also like Craphonso Thorpe. I saw him quite a bit in college. I'd like to see more of him this camp. Michael Jennings is a nice receiver, but he'll never make this roster. Nor will Tyree unfortunately. I was hoping to see Moss get more than one punt return. I don't think there's any question that Bradshaw should be the guy though, at this point anyway. I know they want Hixon to be the guy, but I just don't think he has the explosion and ability to break that first tackle like Bradshaw does. I also don't think Hixon is as quick as Bradshaw. Quick explosion for a PR, it's all Bradshaw or Moss imo. Let Hixon return kicks. I just never liked a tall'ish WR return punts. On any level. Kiehl looks like a player. Goff was horrible while he was in there. Tough break that he got hurt (no pun intended), but Kiehl is a stud. Boss is right now a HS level blocker. Seriously, at that size, you're not going to find much worse a blocker. I keyed on him for almost every play, and he got stood up on just about every one. Pass, run, even getting off the line a few times. He will indeed improve, but he better vastly improve....quickly. You simply cannot have a successful running game with that type of blocking from your TE, so he will lose playing time if he doesn't improve by the time the Redskins roll around. I assure you that. He can catch the rock though. Not as good as somebody else we had, who was one of the better blocking TE's in the league. What was his name again? Well....at least we got _____________ for him. |
