The decision to kick a FG

I know the Giants won and all, but who else was screaming at the TV yelling at Coughlin for sending in the FG unit? For someone who appeared to have not faith in the kicking game (see the Bears game where the Giants could have run the clock down and won the game on a 23 yard FG but scored a TD and left the Bears 90 seconds to win out), I was rather surprised that they went for a FG. Guess its goo that I'm not the coach. Who knows what the outcome would be.

Gutsy call though. He's have been heavily criticized if they missed the FG and GB went down the field to win.

Of course. We all would have. Hindsight is 20/20 and all that...

I think it was a good move to go for the FG. Not just because it worked, but, because Coughlin has to show that he still has confidence in Tynes.

Psychology is part of the HC job.

Coughlin has to show that he still has confidence in Tynes.

Especially after building him up so after the first botch. lol

To hear Tynes tell it, Coughlin didn't have a choice. He (Tynes) had already sprinted out to the hash before Der Colonel formally called for him. Says Coughlin would have had to come out on the field and drag him off...a sight I'm almost sorry not to have had the opportunity to witness.

Good on Tynes, though. Shows a fire in the belly spirit and supreme confidence in his ability to make things right.

Well, of course he's not going to give him hugs and kisses when he comes off the field after a botched FG, but, he can't have a "No. You suck. Just sit there and contemplate how much you suck" attitude, either. Ya know?

I was fine with the FG, even tho I was sweatin' it out, couldn't look, wanted to puke, etc. With the way OT works ya gotta go for the sure points... can't put the ball back in GB's hands. Get the win & go home!
