well......probably the BPA at that point
IMO probably a better all around reciever than Jarrett

We STILL need a LB

Maybe Alexander falls to us in the 3rd?

Not a bad player at all.

Compared to a Keenan McCardell isn't terrible if we should be so lucky.

a great pick up, imo. If we are keeping eli we gotta have freaks like him to make the hard catches ...........

As Mr. Hampton pointed out in an earlier thread we had needs at so many positions it's hard to argue.

I didn't like Smith last year in the second round when his name was Sinorice Moss.

There's no doubt Smith is talented and I do agree that he was probably BPA at that point. But...but...but....didn't we do this last year? Do you take two minnie receivers in consecutive 2nd rounds?

I don't question the player, but I do question the pick. Yes, we needed a WR, but another smurf?

I don't hate the pick, just a little confused.

While others marveled over Jarrett's one-handed catches, when Jerry Rice watched USC games he saw Smith's precise routes and reliable hands.
"He stood out to me," Rice said of Smith. "The guy is a great football player who never really got the chance to show what he can do because Dwayne Jarrett was there. He can go across the middle, runs sharp routes and has that desire to be successful. I see a lot of myself in him."

No doubt about it, Smith is a talented receiver. That's why I can't really be upset with the pick, it does address a need, but I thought Moss was our "little receiver", ya know? lol

Could've been worse. Out of all the receivers we've taken since Hilliard, he's the one I have the most confidence in from the outset. Plus, I've probably seen the most of Smith out of the hacks that we've seen run through here.
