Ok, well...there's not much else to talk about other than the final staff moves, so I've been perusing some of the mock draft sites, just for the hell of it. Some interesting things and one that put a big smile on my face!

I probably visited 10 or so sites and if I'm not mistaken, 6 of them had us taking a RB. 4 of them were my boy Marshawn, one was Michael Bush and the other Kenny Irons. I personally think Irons would be a good back, but a mistake for us right now. Same with Michael Bush. I personally don't see how somebody would look at Bush and Irons and feel that they could do more than Jacobs. They are similar backs, big backs. Marshawn brings the entire package with power, but great speed and more importantly, elusiveness...something that is not in abundance with the other two. Plus, he can step right in and return kicks if we so choose. A Jacobs/Lynch backfield would be absolutely scary! And Lynch will be in great position to take over the feature role in 3 years when Jacobs is beat to shit from taking so many hits.

Few guys had us taking corners with the usual suspects:
Darrelle Revis - Pitt
Marcus McCouley - Fres St
Leon Hall - Mich (who I seriously doubt will be avail at #20)

A couple had us taking a safety which provided even a bigger laugh:
Laron Landry - LSU lol he'll be taken in the top 8.
Reggie Nelson - Florida

One had us taking a MLB in Patrick Willis from Ole Miss. My luck, we'll pass on Posluszny to get this kid and I'll pop a blood vessel.

Now to the biggy of biggies for a variety of reasons that I know I don't have to explain, so I'll just post the pick, with their explanation.

20. New York Giants - Amobi Okoye, DT Louisville
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Giants will likely pick up Turner from the Chargers in FA, so they let K. Irons slide here. However, both of the Giants DT's are pretty much worthless and Okoye would be a great first step for slowing down the likes of Westbrook and Portis. He gets great penetration, he can stop the run and he's only 19 so he can only get faster and stronger!

:yahoo:

Don't be too quick to say that because if we do, that means we've traded up like 8 to 10 spots to get him. Need I say more?

However, both of the Giants DT's are pretty much worthless

Can someone tell this guy that it isn't prudent to smoke narcotics before writing an article like this.
So a rookie DT starting all 16 games and a playoff game is worthless(when most rookie DTs spend 75% of the time overwhelmed,IMO,he out performed Bunkley on teh Eagles)
And I guess Robbins leading our team in sacks (thats sad in itself) makes him worthless as well

And I'll say it one more time,Turner is a pipe dream, the Chargers would be laughing at us again for giving them more picks as they will give him the high tender(which is a 1 and a 3 in compensation),let the Chargers take draft picks from the other NY team this time
And I'm not arguing against Turner for his ability,he has Priest Holmes written all over him,but its bad enough every time I see Eli drop back I think of Rivers, and a 1 and a 3,I don't want to see Eli hand off to Turner and think of Rivers,2 #1s and 2 #3's
I personally think Okoye will be one of those draft day workout wonders that some team will reach for(what I mean reach,I mean being taken 8-10 picks before he is supposed to,a typical Raider pick if they wern't picking #1 overall),I really want to see how he plays in teh senior bowl(jeez,a 19 year old senior, that alone could either be a red flag(way to immature ody and mind wise, but then again,in Africa,he is a man) or a bright star(look at all the years of service he could give a team being so young).
I just don't know about him or how to think about him,he is the extreme version of high risk/high reward(which means if tge Giants take him he is a bust, but if the Eagles take him he is a star)

4.Aaron Rouse-Virginia Tech or Kolby Smith-Louisville
5.Stewart Bradley-Nebraska or Scott Chandler -Iowa

Coefield was playing because of our ineptness at that position, that's pretty evident to me. He had a solid 7 or 8 games and then was in fact worthless from that point on. Robbins is a solid DT. Far from spectacular....solid.

I can't argue with what you say about Turner. I've said before that although I couldn't justify giving a 2nd rounder to get him, we've made completely assinine moves in the past...at least I could enjoy this one. lol

I've seen Okoye play a few times and I was impressed. Here's a kid who will get better and better and better...

I hoping for a LB with our pick at 20.

Look for Patrick Willis.........

Here's my thought process............

While we definitely need help in several areas we can start next season with the players on our roster at DT and DB........

Can't say the same for our LB's.........no no no no no.......

Emmons is a goner and Short has nothing left. Torbor is a zero and Wilkinson still has something to prove. Blackburn is another player in the gray area.

Plug Willis in the middle and move Pierce to the outside.

Take a RB in Round 2.........

Hamp,

You mentioned that guy before. How could he only be 19 and be eligible for the draft? Weird as hell.

Hamp - I hate to be the one to break this to you, but, alot of people jumped on Reese going after Turner because some things he said on YES were misconstrued, and separate comments combined, in the NJ Ledger ( I think them).

He was talking about finding a replacement for Tiki, to compliment Jacobs, and then a few minutes later brought up how Turner is used in conjunction, and he likes that setup becuase it works. Shit like that.

As for Obiwan Kinobi, you know we're grabbing him in the draft...

 Go Obi!!

Yeah, a trade for Turner would be off the wall and although we've done some completely idiotic things in the draft, we typically have been conservative (for the most part and certainly prior to Arrington) in FA. But there's a new sheriff in town.

Rick
If I recall correctly, when he came to the US as a young boy of 10 years old or somewhere in that range I believe...he was very intelligent and well beyond the work being done in his classes, so they advanced him 2 years or something like that. I'll check it out and see if I can dig that part of the story up.

Geno, at the end of the day here it all comes down to who we target and pick up in FA right? If we sign Cato June for instance, our priority in the first round turns away from LB and more toward CB, DT, RB, S. If we pick up a Dominick Rhodes, our focus goes right back to LB. So it's impossible to call.

Personally, I think the toughest position to draft and get immediate help from that draft pick, is CB. Therefore, I think the smartest thing is make Samuel your #1 priority. Bellichek will only pay players so much, then it's 'buh-bye' if you don't agree to their terms. Then ya know what...we need to simply put the best contract on the table and make Samuel walk away from money if he decides to resign with NE. He's the best corner on the market, we need to go get him, period. That immediately upgrades our defense and frees us up to go get a Posluzski (I completely botched his name). My feeling, I'm not interested in Willis. We move up 3 or 4 spots to get the kid from Penn State, or we go in another direction. Just my thoughts. I think we steal that kid if we move up to 16 or 17 and it's complete highway robbery if we stay put and get him at 20. The injury of '05 is one and only reason this kid doesn't go top 5. If he checks out, I go get him.

We need to break out the draft trade compensation table soon.
