Freeney never a fan of Pats By Steve Buckley/ Colts Notebook Thursday, January 18, 2007 - Updated: 05:22 AM EST INDIANAPOLIS - For those of you who need some bulletin-board material in the days leading up to Sunday’s AFC Championship Game between the Patriots [team stats] and Indianapolis Colts, we give you this: Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney is putting it on the record that he absolutely “hates” the Patriots. But before you compare Freeney with last week’s chosen villain - San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman - perhaps some explaining is in order. Freeney, who was born in Hartford and starred at Bloomfield High School before moving on to Syracuse University, was raised to be a fan of the New York Football Giants. As such, he had no use for the Patriots. “I am from New England, so at the end of the day, when I go home, it’s half Patriots and now it’s half Colts,” he said. “You get the wars in the streets. People are talking this, talking that. So for me, it’s a little bit more special. But I have to go out and cancel all that out and not worry about it. “I hated the Patriots,” he said. “I was a big Giants fan, and the fact is the Patriots weren’t that good back then. I was always a Mets fan, a New York Giants fan.” |

I think Kiwi would slide into that spot phenomenally. Get rid of Emmons, move in Kiwi. Osi stays where he is. We have strength on both sides. |

I actually heard Carl Banks on Sirius say that he would be just as good as Merriman if moved to a hybrid OLB/DE in some sort of a hybrid 3/4 defense. I kinda thought they were going to do that when we drafted him this year. Osi/Strahan at DE,Tuck at DE,Cofield/Robbins at DT Kiwi,Pierce,Arrington/Wilkerson at LB(Short and Blackburn at Backups) Then we can concentrate on the following this offseason 1.a cover corner(I feel like its groundhog day saying this)in F.A 2.Sign a WR like Kevin Curtis/Patrick Crayton(not big bucks, but a type of signing that would make a huge difference as it makes Carter one step closer to the door hitting him in the ass) 3.My biggie and a wildcard, sign TE Daniel Graham, and we would have the best 2 TE set in the league and make it nearly impossible to scheme for(do you put a base D out there and get torched,or put in an extra safety and get run on all day). 4.a Veteran backup QB(see Phili what a good Vet can do,what if Eli were injured last year, you can only play Russian Roulette with your QBs like we have for so long before the bullet fires),and also because a Vet would be a good mentour for Eli(Eli's best QB coach to date in the NFL was Warner). 5.Find a blob that can clog the middle (a 20-30 snap guy for our DT rotation),not a big issue, but a blob would be good for a change of pace Then we can draft BPA(RB,OLB(for depth),CB,Safety,O lineman,or DT |
