DEREK WAKE Strengths: Excellent athletic ability...Good size...Tremendous pass rusher who can be a force on the blitz...Good strength...Gives good effort...Still had some upside. Weaknesses: Doesn't have a ton of experience at linebacker...Doesn't look real comfortable in coverage just yet...May need to play in a specific scheme to excel at the next level. Notes: Converted defensive end who may fit best in a 3-4 defensive scheme such as the Steelers or Ravens...Hybrid OLB / DE who has the skills to make it in the right situation. Anybody getting the feeling the Giants may go 3-4 next year? Torbor.....Tuck.......now Wake? |

RYAN GRANT Strengths: Very good size...Decent timed speed...A hard inside runner...Hits the hole decisively...Shows good vision...Developed into a team leader late in his career. Weaknesses: Battled some nagging injuries as a senior...Gets tackled too easily...Not much of a receiver out of the backfield...Isn't a great blocker...Doesn't run with as much power as you would think. Notes: Ran for 1,000+ yards as a sophomore but then lost his starting job to Julius Jones as a junior and then split time with Darius Walker as a senior...Could be a nice backup in the pros, but is too one-dimensinal and lacks the versatility to be an every down back. Meh......other than the fact that everyone looks like a Pro-Bowler when you sign him and you wonder how he never was picked in the 1st place, this guy seems like camp fodder........ |

Wish Demon was here. I'm sure he'd know Wake well. From his combine numbers, he looks explosive. Hope he plays that way. |
