Anyone who takes a look at the Chargers history with first round picks would know that this was going to be a long process. I'm bias because I really wanted Manning on the GIANTS, but in the long run I think time will prove that the Mannings were right. I also believe that, in time, Manning will prove that the GIANTS were right to make that trade.

I concur. Pulling Collins from the grave and nabbing Shockey were both brilliant moves by EA. I think this trade for Manning will turn out to be a great move too. EA takes a lot of heat from Giants' fans, but there's no denying he has made a number of excellent moves as the Giants' GM. Most people just focus on the negatives. If EA didn't take a chance on Collins or rebuild the line in '00, 41-0 probably never would have happened. Sure we didn't win the SB, but how many GMs never get there at all?

People tend to focus on the negative because there are so many more instances. Has he made some good moves? Indeed.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Still won an NFC championship which is more than a lot of GMs can say.

EA may be a dolt in most cases, but he has a great eye for QBs.

How much do you want to bet that Rivers would have done exactly what Manning did if he was going to be picked #1 knowing what he knows now?      The chargers are just a piece 'o shit organization and Smith is a moron. EA is Einstein compared to him. Manning made the smart move to avoid fucking up the prime years of his career in an organization that doesn't give two shits about fielding a decent product.
