For what its worth...unless its blatently obvious...like a guy approaching with a box of jerseys...I think the players should give the fans the benefit of the doubt. |

I also know how to read BLUE...thank you. I know that he signs, and have a signature to prove it. He just thinks he is God, and can determine intent. I think thats bullshit. Some kids are genuinly interested in getting a signature....so give it to them you big bitch! Stop walking out to your over priced car saying "no autographs..no autographs." Who gives a shit if people are selling your shit on ebay. So they're making money off you? you make money off them....way too much money in my mind. |

Well I guess the dealer that Strahan was so upset with has finally spoke... "Strahan gave me a REAL attitude when I asked for his autograph. I had some stuff there and he goes, "Yeah, you got a whole BAG of stuff!" Little did he know that I had a huge umbrella in the bag because it was going to rain that afternoon... and it did. Thanks a lot, Strahan, it cost me about $50 just to drive up there and back and the guy accuses me of getting stuff signed just so I can sell it. What a jer/koff... that's Mike $trahan for you -- the guy makes about $10million this season and he's worried about some kid making a $50 profit on a jersey I was going to frame and hang in my room. Yeahhh, I almost threw the jersey in his face, but I put my jersey away and drove 4 hours home. I was going to stay the night, but I didn't. Way to go, Strahan, you're a real cla$s act, you ignorant, gap-toothed, 21.5 sack m0ron...." SehornIsGod Giants.com member |

SehornIsGod is an idiot....one of the one's I can't stand over there on the .com board. If he had an umbrella (which I'm not saying he didn't) why didn't he say to Mike, "Hey look, it's an umbrella. I just want your autograph on this jersey so I can frame it and hang in on my wall." Ya know, if someone was acussing me of selling things on eBay, which in return didn't get me an autograph, you'd better believe I'd stand my ground and speak my peace about it ... even if it was Big Mike. Oh well... |

You mean the same SehornIsGod who was selling tickets last year on Ebay and advertising them on the message board under different screen names!!!! Oh Lord, this is hysterical. Bad one to pick hats to make your point. I guess this is the thing, I'm not real big on autographs and things like that. True that I am putting together a collection of mini's all signed by franchise type QB's but that aside, I'm not the type to drive 4 hours to get a grown man to sign his name on a piece of fabric. I could pretty much care less about that stuff. However, I know that many people are BIGTIME into that and that's great. Whatever floats your boat. That's what makes the world go 'round. And the kids.....of course, they have to do their part for the kids. But here's my point.........a guy can sign autographs time and time and time again, sign sign sign sign sign, but when it comes time to stop, or when he has something to do and has to get home and just can't sign at one particular time and makes that choice not to do so, then everybody gets their panties in a bunch and starts to yell and scream about 'this guy or that guy makes so much money and they blew off my kid and I pay good money to go to the game and help pay his salary and bla bla bla.' These guys are human beings and when it comes to autographs, they're in a no win situation. Everybody expects them to take time out of their day to sign things.....which for the most part they all do. But when they can't or simply choose not to, all of a sudden these hardcore "fans" (of football or autographs I often wonder) go crazy in calling these guys every name in the book and trying to 'bloody' their names because that ONE time, they couldn't stand there and sign their bobble head doll. So I ask, in those situations......who is the selfish one? |

I take back everything. SehornIsGod is an idiot who doesn't deserve ANY autographs. I actually met him up at camp. He already had a fullsize replica helmet FULL of autographs before this. I stand corrected Hamp. I bow to you in your general direction :worthy: |

Ahh Hamp there you go again. Wrong, Wrong, Wrong, Wrong, WRONG! It's not a question of I gotta go lift, or I have to get to the meeting so I can't sign. It's a question of, Are you a dealer, and are you going to sell this. If players have no time to sign that's fine. I accept that. No problem and thank you anyway. But it's when they say what are you going to do with this is where I have the problem. I have no problem with personalizing. In fact most of my autographs are personalized ( with the exception of the footballs ). Most of my son's autographs are also personalized. So what do you do with a player that won't personalize ( Shockey ) but wants to know where the autograph is going. I guess I could take pictures of my apartment and show them that I am in fact a fan and not a dealer. But why should I prove my case to them when in their minds they already have an opinion of what I'm going to do with whatever I'm getting signed. It's a catch 22 for both parties. But I said before fans come in all sizes and ages. Let's say Rodney Hampton is up to camp visiting one day. You come up to camp with your favorite 8x10 of him to get it signed. So you leave work early and make the drive to smAlbany to meet him. As you're in line with your work suit and tie still on you finally get up and talk to him. You ask him to sign this 8x10 and he looks at you and says, "what are you going to do with this?" You say, "You're my favorite player and this has been on my wall and when I heard you were here I was hoping you could sign it." He looks at you, in you suit, and gives a sigh. You say to him, " I left work early so I wouldn't miss meeting you." He says, "You look like a dealer to me" and scribbles a half autograph over your favorite picture. What would you think? You have no chance to explain yourself because now he's moved on to the kids behind you. |

Well I guess this thread has morphed into several different conversations and that's probably my fault. What you're saying......I hear ya. But how often does that happen? I can't imagine very often, but I could be dead wrong. As I said, I'm never there asking so I wouldn't know. But I would imagine that there are many reasons that somebody may not sign an autograph at any given time. And my opinion is still that it's ridiculous and childish to be angry at a guy like Strahan for simply speaking his mind. I never knew that once you got into a certain tax bracket, your right to free speech is yanked away. Especially when it comes to something so important and so gripping as signing an autograph. Again.....perspective is what I'm saying. If he started speaking his mind on how he thinks cocaine is the greatest thing since sliced bread.....then you'd have my ear. I guess I started to go in the direction of players not giving autographs for whatever reason. Whether it's because they think you're a dealer, because they have to home and get laid, or because they've been signing for 45 minutes before you got there. Because although YOU may be okay with them saying no for reasons other than you being a dealer, you know darn well that many times have players signed for 30 minutes, then the person that happens to pull up during minute 31 and is passed up on an autograph, catches an attitude and all of a sudden that player is an asshole. |

Strahan can speak his mind. He needs to realize that his mind isn't all its cracked up to be though. |
