Police say they got calls about a vehicle accident in Queens around 8:45 p.m. Sunday. When they got there, they found a BMW had struck several parked cars along 35th Avenue. They say Diehl was behind the wheel. He was charged after a Breathalyzer test allegedly showed he was above the legal limit. Diehl was being held in the 114th precinct in Queens, according to WNBC-TV, which first reported the arrest. The New York Post reported Diehl, a member of both of the Giants' recent Super Bowl-winning teams, struck vehicles on 35th Avenue near 31st Street in Astoria. There were no passengers and Diehl was not injured, according to the newspaper. Peter Schaffer, Diehl's agent, did not discuss the arrest when reached by ESPNNewYork.com. "I am honored to represent David Diehl," Schaffer wrote in an email. "One of, if not the classiest, most humblest New York Giants ever." Diehl, who won the Wellington Mara Man of the Year Award on May 22, tweeted earlier Sunday that he was at Westchester Country Club to attend a charity event. Diehl, who is of Croatian descent, also tweeted Sunday about Croatia's 3-1 victory over Ireland in a European Championship game. Depending on the mood of the Ginger Hammer, Diehl could face a fine or a suspension. The latter could be a possibility given the way that the NFL has responded to recent DUI/DWI situations after the arrest of Justin Blackmon (Jax WR). However, Diehl has a clean record with the NFL so who knows? Edited by Hadron, Jun 11 2012, 12:18 PM.

The part that gets me is the "hitting several parked cars". Several? Around the time he felt that first "thud", you'd think he'd have stopped the vehicle. But in any event....I doubt he'll get much, since there were no victims (although the hitting parked cars might work against him to some extent). Give him like 2 games and be done with it. |

Diehl may be humble and "classy", and I like him on the Giants as a player, but drunk driving is stupid and basically inexcusible. |

If this was his first infraction I doubt he gets little more than a fine.. But losing a girlfriend whom I loved very much to a liquered up guido I have zero tolerance for drunk drivers...so part of me hopes he misses a game because of this. |

shit happens and it was not cool to hear that from him. I remember Kareem Mckenzie who used to play for us got arrested for drunk driving as well. just not smart. sometimes people have to learn there lesson the hard way. doesn't matter if your humble, cocky, or arrogant. DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE!! Edited by Eli_Manning_10, Jun 11 2012, 05:12 PM.

Mistakes in life happen, now it's what he does to help others understand the importance to not drink and drive is most important and he is a stand up guy so I have faith he will do just that. |
