Yeah wtf?

We have a really good chance of winning this game. I've heard more than a few predictions of 38-35 Giants, the opposite score of a few weeks ago. Pffft...aint' gonna happen.

We need to keep this to a defensive game if we're going to win. Imo, we're not going to win a 70-75 point shootout. We need to impose our will upon the GB offensive line and QB, and limit that scoring. Like it or not, our QB does not rank with the Packers QB this year. In fact our offensive unit doesn't rank with theirs. We won't win a shootout, but points will be put up.

We need the type of game where we punch them in the face in the 1st quarter. Establish what's going to happen in this game. I want to see one score at best by GB. Same for Q2.

In that time, I want to throw the ball effectively, but perhaps more importantly...my goal is one which I can almost guarantee you will not be followed by Gilbride. Establish the hot back and feed him.

It seems that Gilbride is more concerned with RB balance than feeding the monster.

FEED THE MONSTER!!!!!!

Let's find out who is hot in the 1st half and just run the shit out of him. I'm sorry, I don't see the need for 14 carries/14 carries just so the stat sheet looks all nice and tidy. FEED THE MONSTER!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't mean to send that post when I did, but I'll leave it at that for now.

Edit: I'm pretty sure that either back could handle 20-25 carries if he's the hot back! You have 6 months to rest!!!

FEED THE MONSTER!!!

To steal a line from a Houston radio guy talking about the Giants, the D-Line needs to keep beasting it up if they want to win. His words, not mine.

Or in other words, JPP & Co. need to hammer Rodgers like they have the past couple of QB's they've faced.

Hampy...agree totally on limiting the shootout...in normal years and 90% of situations the Giants could easily win a shootout with Eli and the clutch weapons, this is something totally on another magnitude, can it be done, sure,if you can guarentee Eli gets the ball with only a minute left and the Giants use almost all the clock yeah I take that as clutch as he has been. But odds are if its a shootout you are not going to be able to guarentee the circumstances of who gets the ball last and with how much time.....way too much at stake to play Russian Roulette with circumstance with the season on the line..

So
my take
1.go back to the ball control style of last week and the 2007/08 playoff run, though if there is a big play to be had,and there will be opportunities,go get it.Giants must have the advantage in time of possesion and limit GB's possesions.
2.Cannot trade FGs for TDs with this team...1 FG is OK,3 fgs=31-23 loss..
which puts the Giants in kind of a quandry as a lot of their scores have been quick strikes.
3.Cannot agree more with going with the hot hand at RB...if I remember don't the Giants have like a 95% win rate if Jacobs gets 20 or more carries?Let the big guy get the carries(I think both RBs if they get over 20 the Giants have a great record, but Jacobs is more pronounced..Teams in the 3rd quarter start losing interest in tackling the big guy
4.I guess it does not need to be said about turnovers and penalties(though if its Tripletts crew we are fucked)..I think the Giants can survive 1 turnover.....more than 1 and its over
5.Defense...play the same smart style the past 3 weeks,I have a strange feeling GB might try to establish a running game as while they know they have the better qube, they also realize a full scale nuclear war style of game has the same risks for both teams, circumstance and the wrong team getting the ball last driving the field and scoring..and especially considering the Giants have something GB does not have,a game changing pass rush....the last 3 weeks we got to see what our defense can do when they have a big lead and a team is forced to go 1 dimentional, even as good as GBs offense is,if they get down 2 scores late, and even as mobile as Rodgers is,this team has not faced a theam like the Giants when they can "unleash the kraken" on a qube....
The Dallas game was a really good tune up as their passing philosophy is similar to GBs(both timing routes based on 3 to 5 step drops,Dallas is the Coryell/Norv Turner style and GB is more the WCO)...getting a nice jam on the recievers at the line will throw off timing enough to make 3 step drops become 5,if Rodgers and WRs are able to do the 3 step drop/pass concepts all game its over,no way the pass rsush gets there.5 step drop very good chance if becomes a factor...We all saw what happened last year in GB when the Giants played off the recievers all game......can't do this.
Your ratio of points per quarter is right on,only 1 TD per quarter, especially in the 1st half.
I do expect a few lead changes early....
Giants hold GB to 28 they have a really good shot at winning,31,its still do able, anything more, its full blown nuclear way and a coin flip and the odds suck

another hint quick release by Aaron Rodgers try to knock it down if the d-line can't get to him. Hands up!!!!! but pressure is the key.

haha but it is so easy for me this year down here in Houston!

1. The Giants are in the playoffs (after sweeping Dallas)
2. TJ Yates has as many playoff wins as Romo.

Agree with all of it. I know that everybody wants to just go in there and light up that weak defense, but it's not that easy in the playoffs, in 10 degree weather. It can be done, but I don't want to go toe to toe with Rogers again.

And yes, while I'd be fine with giving both RBs carries until we see that one of them is hot...Jacobs has been running well lately and maybe it's just coincidence but it seems that the Oline is blocking better when he's in the game. Pound him and like you said, nobody will want to tackle him in 10 degree weather in the 3rd and 4th quarters.

Herzlich was the only player left home as the team flew out to Green Bay today.

Game time weather expected to be 31° and mostly cloudy.

Couldn't agree more.

Green Bay has been on cruise control for quite awhile now while the Giants have been in playoff mode since the loss to the Redskins. We also have to take into account that Rodgers hasn't taken a snap in anger since Christmas day.

The Giants have to take advantage of this situation and jump on the Packers before they can shake off the rust and cobwebs.

I'm not suggesting Green Bay will be a turnover machine in the 1st 15 minutes, but before they can get their bearings I'm hoping the Giants can benefit form a missed block here or a missed tackle there with a bad pass or drop in between. Here's hoping this one particular intangible tilts the field in our favor for at least one early scoring opportunity.

Have to agree here too. Here's hoping Gilbride shit cans the finesse stuff and just has the OL buckle up and go straight ahead.

Seems to me that when the running game consists of someone pulling off the line nothing happens, but when the OL and Hynoski just fire off the ball and hit the 1st different color jersey they come across the run game opens up.
