If we do not make a move for a wide out think these are mostly good picks. I guess I am the only one that thinks We could also use an upgrade at Strong Safety over of a DT or OT. |

Nope, you're not alone. I want to sign Sean Jones. Jones and Phillips would make a great safety duo, with Johnson as the third safety who gets a lot of time in this defense. If not (and even if we do), I see us taking a safety in the 3rd, 4th or 5th round (3rd/4th if we don't sign a FA) since I hope we don't sign Butler. Seems like he might be destined to rejoin Spags in St. Louis. And I like Fili Maola because he can play DT and DE. Edited by 27Hampton, Jan 23 2009, 03:53 PM.

Keep this in mind, I don't know much about the players slated to go half way through the second round. NYG picks look pretty solid. Jones + KP21 together would be ROWDY. What I do know is that Houston ain't gonna draft a RB in the first round. Round 2-4? Much more likely. Steve Slaton is a beast. Despite all the first round picks on the D-Line, I forsee a DE to put on the other side from Super Mario. Either that or a DT/LB. Edited by Hadron, Jan 24 2009, 09:32 AM.

I think Heyward Bey is a better WR than Britt IMO(more physical),I would take Bey if both were avaiable. That would be a solid draft IMO |

There's no doubt about it, but that's why Bey will most likely go in the middle of the first and Britt the middle of the second (hopefully). I'm not sure I'd even have too much of a problem moving up 10 spots to get Bey. I don't see how he gets by both TB and Chicago. Of course if Britt has a big combine, he'll go late first. |

I think you will love me forever for saying this but UBER F THE COMBINE!!!!!!!! OK a few measurables and stuff are found, but after the seinor bowl week, this is how IMO the draft boards should look to me. I judge talent on the football field,. The last idiot we had as a GM drafted athletes,Reese drafts football players Which is why Laurenitis falling as fast as he is is so stupid(unless he truly sucks the suck out of suck in coverage, where then IMO he is no upgrade over Pierce) When I see speed,I see speed on the field,Bey has football speed,Britt has football speed,Greshen has football speed, the 3 LBs from USC have football speed Ron Dixon had sub 4.3 speed,an IQ of a retarded amoeba, and chronicly injured knees.... |

I totally agree with you. But it still happens. If a guy was expected to run 4.45 and he runs 4.35, he'll improve his draft position. Even if Reese doesn't put as much emphasis on the combine, he still must pay FULL attention (obviously), if for nothing else, but to have the best idea possible of how the draft will play out. ESPECIALLY when considering trading up for somebody. I think there's some concern with Laurinaitis and his ability to get off blocks. I think he's really good in coverage and he'll show that. But it also raises a red flag that he's not playing in the Senior Bowl. There's no reason for him to stay out, unless there's an injury that he's not disclosing. As we know, even the speculation of injury can drop a guy a full round. He really should be playing in that game. And fuck the Senior Bowl, fuck the NFL Network and fuck Cablevision. I'm so pissed that I can't watch it. FUCK THEM!!! Edited by 27Hampton, Jan 24 2009, 06:20 PM.

This is supposedly a really weak draft, which sucks because the Eagles have 2 first rounders. |

I'm not convinced it's a "weak draft". All drafts are stronger at some positions than others, but I don't think any draft is a necessarily a weak one. Maybe fewer flashy, "brand names", but that doesn't mean teams won't get a lot of good players, some of whom will become superstars. It might a bit weak for OL after the top few. Not particularly strong with top end RBs or QBs. Might be a little weak in high end CBs too. But I think this draft is very strong with WRs and TEs, and the LBs and and defensive lineman are a pretty strong group as well. From the 4th round on, no fan really knows how good it will be imo. Pundits either (but better than fans). You find out about that part of the draft in the coming few years. The Eagles will get themselves a very good TE with one of those first round picks. |

Weak draft? Isn't this suppose to be a real strong draft with alot of the underclass man declaring for the draft this year because the nfl might put in a rookie salary cap next year. |

This is going to be one of those drafts where there will be a LOT of players graded similarly between picks 15-75,where it wouldn't be that big of a reach if some team with the 20th pick takes a player projected at 50,because of need and because he fits what they do best,(which will make Mel Kiper Jr have multi aneurysms because teams are straying away from his draft board) This will be like 2005 when Tuck, who had a 1st round grade, fell to us because of what other teams had graded.) Reese will clean up in this draft |
