Capers sounds good. Up and coming assistants leave, as we have learned with Fox and Spags. Maybe Capers can be our Jim Johnson.

Capers has always been a better coordinator than he has an HC. He does run a 3-4. Maybe Kiwi goes back to LB with Osi coming back. Robbins at nose tackle and Tuck filling out the other DE.

3-4 defense? That'd be...odd to see.

Well yeah, but we can't even get 3 average LB's on the field. We'd need 4 if it happens, not to mention the D-line having to get a hell of a lot bigger. Could you see Robbins or Cofield clogging the middle in a 3-4? I cant

Coupled with the fact that I hate the 3-4 and this whole thing sucks the suck out of suck
Agreed.
Unless they plan on using Kiwi as a joker(hybrid blitzing LB/DE) and run a hybrid system,we would totally have to rebuild our front 7.
Osi is not a 3-4 DE,Tuck might work as a 3-4 DE,but you would be ruining his abilities
Our DTs are too small.
Wasn't Capers on Jacksonville's staff in 1999,and i think they ran a 4-3

I'd like to say I'm unpleasantly surprised, but, really, who is? Could've shot someone when I heard it on Sirius.

The Rams? The fucking Rams? For less?

Now that he’s been hired by the Rams, Steve Spagnuolo has to get to work assembling his staff. Word from Adam Schefter is that he’ll be looking at his two past employers for coaches to fill coordinator roles.

Per Schefter, Spagnuolo would like to hire Eagles quarterback coach Pat Shurmur to be his offensive coordinator. Both men started working for the Eagles in 1999, and Shurmur, whose late uncle Fritz was a longtime NFL defensive coordinator, made the move from tight ends to quarterbacks in 2002. Former Eagle assistant John Harbaugh considered him for the Ravens offensive coordinator spot last season before hiring Cam Cameron.

If he isn’t able to hire Shurmur, Spagnuolo may be interested in Eagles wide receiver coach David Culley. Neither Eagles assistant’s contract is up after the season, but Andy Reid said Shurmur was free to go to the Ravens a year ago if he got the job.

On the other side of the ball, Schefter reports that Giants linebacker coach Bill Sheridan is Spagnuolo’s first choice. Sheridan coached at Notre Dame and Michigan before joining the Giants staff in 2005. He may be considered for Spagnuolo’s former role with the Giants, although the team is reportedly interested in Dom Capers and has former Rams defensive coordinator Peter Giunta on their staff.

Was watching the Fox pre-game show this morning and Glazer 'reported' that Spags has an escape clause if the team is sold.

Doesn't mean much of anything to us at this point. Just thought it was an interesting tidbit.

It's better to have loved and lost......

My first reaction is to promote from within in order to maintain the same defensive scheme. It ain't broken.

If Capers comes in, he will most likely try to force his own scheme unto to a team that doesn't have the personnel to be most successful (as BS said).

Nobody likes change. :eh:
