So, I think I realized two amazing things yesterday. 1) With just how crappy the NFC West really is, Arizona could've clinched their division if they beat us yesterday. They would've been 8-3 and their opponents were 3-7, 2-8, and 2-8! Has anyone ever had the chance to clinch their division on only Week 11?? 2) With just how good of a start we've had, and the quick collapse of both Dallas and Philly, leaving Washington as our only real divisional threat left...we, the New York Giants, have the possibility of clinching with a win this week. We're 10-1 and Washington is 7-4. If we win, we'll have a 4 game gap at 11-1 and 7-5 with only 4 games left. We we lost all of our remaining games, and Washington won out, we'd be tied, but we would win due to winning the season series -- is that correct? If so... when have we ever been able to tell ourselves that we're clinching the division this early? I'm amazed at both feats.

The '07 Pats clinched the AFCE at 10-0, before playing their 11th game, by virtue of a Buffalo loss earlier in the day of Week 11. The '85 Bears, '97 'Niners & '04 Eagles all clinched Division crowns with wins in their 11th games of the season. Edited by 12C, Nov 24 2008, 02:03 PM.

Ah, yesterday when I was thinking about this I realized the Pats probably had it last year when they went undefeated and the rest of their division sucked ass, but that thought escaped me when I made this post. Thanks for reminding me. G1: I wasn't sure if Dallas had the same record or not...if they do, they maybe I'm wrong about us potentially clinching this week. Or, if they do, and they happen to lose this week as well, they maybe I am still right

Yea, Dallas and Wash are both 7-4. Dallas seems to have found it's way again. Too much to hope for the holy mess that is Philly somehow pull off a win Thursday, huh? |

I'm not going to shed any tears if Dallas misses the playoffs. They should beat Seattle Thursday night, but look at what they have to do if they want to improve on that soon to be 8 & 4 record....... Pittsburgh @ Pittsburgh Giants Baltimore Philadelphia @ Philly They're going to need 11 wins to get in. One could make a good argument that after Seattle they don't win another game the rest of the season............ |

Why is it, even though I know that Dallas and Philly aren't playing each other on T-Day, that I can't seem to remember it? |

With Hasslebeck back, the 'Hawks could be a rain PITA for potential playoff teams. Here's hoping there is an upset or two on Turkey day, Also, Clinton Portis has been dinged up as of late. Can he continue to take the pounding that he has? |

psssssssst........ Sun, Nov 16 @ Washington (NBC) 7:15 PM Dallas = 14 Washington = 10 Although off the top of my head they're both 2 & 2 in the division...........don't know what the next tie breaker is. |

Then I guess at this time the Redskins hold the tie breakers. They're 3 & 2 in the division and the Cowboys have 4 losses to NFC teams at the moment (NY, Wash, Stl, & Ariz) while the 'Skins have 3 (NY, Stl, Dallas). |

See! The Skins have the tiebreaker! (Though I did forget that they actually split. Forgot the Cowballs played the Skins twice, since after 12 weeks, we've only played each team in our division once...... lol) |

Dallas could be a very dangerous team in the playoffs.. ..if they get there. The rest of the NFC really doesn't give me pause especially if they have to roll through the Meadowlands. |

My thoughts exactly. Something still scares me about Dallas. I can just see the paper -- amazing Cowboys fight through tough Romo injury mid-way through season, battle back to earn wildcard, then upset defending Super Bowl champ Giants int heir own stadium. They'd be crowning them all day long even though our defeat of them last year in their own stadium was more triumphant than this would be. |
