Blastphemy! All fights are necessary.

We've just received XIII, XIII Verses is on its way, XIV has started work and some of its soundtrack and we've seen some of its FMV's but after 14 is out we all know what is coming out next.

What do you think Final Fantasy XV will be like? The game probably will not be released or so much as talked about for possibly more than two years from now lol. Square's learned a lot from bringing the series from the PSX by bringing in voice acting (if you can call it that), new battle systems aside from the series classic ATB as well as new ways of customizing and classifying jobs. In other words, FF has taken a risk taking method of creating its games to find that new click that can really wow fans and newcomers.

FXIII became super popular battle system that makes the RPG look more like an action plat-former/hack n' slash with its high paced action and changeable job during battle (which I've gotten from gameplay footage, correct me if I'm wrong) and XV may adopt these methods as well. Then again, we may see something completely new as well. Maybe Tactics fans will get the recognition they deserve and have a tactics game in the numerical series. That could work because Final Fantasy Tactics was so well done with its story and... well... everything about it. That could rage a lot of fans because some people (myself included) really don't like tactical games.

There are people I would like in the production team to possibly change things around so Square can try some more things. One thing I think really is a must is to bring in another character designer. Although Tetsua Nomura's characters are insanely popular thanks to VII, VIII, X and XIIII, I'd like to see another person behind the scenes aside from him to create some new characters. Nomura has been behind all the newer characters aside from IX (Amano and Itahana) and XII (Akihiko Yoshida). Yoshida is promising and he is responsible for the look of the people for Vagrant Story (XII's Precursor), XII and XIV so maybe giving him another chance of creating characters would be a smart move. Yoshida is a wonderful artist and I could see another Final Fantasy game in his vision again.

I think the music is really dieing in the series after Uematsu left because he's the magic behind the first 11 games in the series. XII's soundtrack, in my opinion, was lifeless and save for a few moments did not add that rise of suspense that the previous games had done so well. XIII's soundtrack is not too amazing in my book as well. It really reminds me of one of those really cheesy and shitty anime inspired RPG's that whored the PS2. Some tunes were very well composed however and I could really see them making a scene come to life but a few good songs do not make up for an entire soundtrack of mediocrity. And yes I understand why most of it is techno pop-ish because of the world and in that sense it does set the environment but they lack something that made FF so well known for its Video Game Music. I know Uematsu helped with a few title songs in XIV as I saw some of the songs performed live and they were very well composed (Shame I can't remember them though). It seems XIV may have some incredibly well constructed music and I hope that the magic that used to fuel the series returns for XV.

There is another big question and that's what is the setting going to be like? Are we looking at Medieval/Steampunk setting for the original 6 games as well as IX and XI, a futuristic world that's heavily influenced by technology such as VII, VIII, XII and XIII or maybe that indian/oceanic world that X was in? I can almost be certain that it will most likely be set in a futuristic world that has been really sweeping the series when it made its leap to 3-D but I've been praying for a fantastice Medieval world because IV and IX did so well with that kind of universe that I would like to see it again. I've said a few times that FF seems more like Final Science-Fiction than Fantasy because of its major leap into technology that usually overtake the fantasy aspects but there have been moments of Sci-fi throughout the series such as Airships, traveling through dimentions and so on.

What do you want in FFXV is really the point I'm coming across.

I agree with you on that last note Cap'n (Amarant) they will most likely opt for the sci-fi look that most of the games have been going towards since VII. Although to be quite honest VII didn't seem that futuristic to me, it was like a class between some medieval and that time frame around the mid 90's it had the technology and science fiction elements, but it was in setting that almost mirrored reality at the time. Same with VIII although in that they really did make things a little more futuristic with the snazzy curves to all the vehicles, Edgar and the Ragnarok space ship.

I actually wouldn't mind something like that again as long as it was done well (can't speak either way for XIII on that note) although I would like to see them go back to or at least try the whole classic medieval style again, but still keep the fantasy in it like airships and stuff like the older FF games had or other fantasy series that are kind of set in a medieval looking world like Tales of Symphonia.

I remember saying this in regards to a FFVII remake that they should give the gamers more of a choice in style in how to play their game. For example have both the old classic turn based battle and the fast pasted real time battle they have now. Don't try to trick people like Dissida's "turn based/classic" battle which is the same fucking thing only with a nifty little command box for those who are unable to push a button that does the same exact fucking thing only faster. I know they will never implement two different systems or give you any type of choice what-so-ever in a game seeing as it wouldn't be cost effective, but it'd be nice and would give the veteran gamers what they desire as well the newer gamers what they want.

I mean it makes me feel like a stuborn old man, but I like the older games better and actually liked the turn based battle more. I can't 100% say that real time battle doesn't fit with the games seeing as that is the next logical step for FF and seeing as I haven't played XIII. I still think that that system is best for one character like in Crisis Core or similar to the Kingdom Hearts style where you manage your character (pretty much just the lead) and set your two other party members to react based on a few options on how aggressive or defensive you want them to be, aside from their character defaults that would mirror their personality. I think the turn based battle system really let you know the other characters some more and gave you a chance to bond with them. Now in order to give two shits about them you've got to rely on some epic fucking story telling on Square's part even though I imagine you can still find reason to bitch at the AI party characters RE5 style.
And before anyone mentions it, yes I know you are forced to switch characters in FFXIII at points, but that's the problem, I don't want to switch goddamn characters. I want to be forced to use the lead for the whole game unless he falls into a coma and then the heroine decides to later stay with him forcing me to use the third best character or I want to be able to choose your controlling character at will like turn based battle.
What I want is active turn based. They can keep the real time FFXIII style, but I want to be able to switch between the character I'm controlling and others at will. It solves all problems, it lets those who only want to use the lead for the game do so and for those like another character better it lets them play as that character for the game. Then there's also the option to go back and do it again with a different character to bond with them more or confirm your undying hatred for them.
