So FF VI holds the record in an FF game for most playable characters- 14! Plus two guest characters- and in a rather unique touch you are never stuck with a single one in the same way you are stuck with say Cloud or Zidane. Due to this many people seem to differ on opinion on just who the main character is. Some say Terra due to her being the first playable character, some say Celes due to her being the first playable character in the 2nd half of the game and some even say Locke or Edgar..... due to them being male. But who do you think is the main character? |

I have to say Terra. She seems to have a bigger impact on the story than the others and she has been influenced/knows the main villain more so than most of the characters like almost every other main character. Firion- Emperor killed his family, bla bla... Cecil- Golbez's brother. Bartz- Father defeated Exdeath, Bartz is summoned because his old man is dead. Cloud- Knew Sephiroth from his days in Shinra. Squall- So confusing... Killed Ultimecia and led her to hate SeeD's and take control of Edea because of not only her magical abilities but her ties to the SeeD. Zidane- Kuja's brother Tidus- Jecht's son. Ashe- I say she's the real lead of 12. Princess of Dalmasca, Empire takes over it. |

This is one of those games in which the characters all had some influence on each other. Realistically, Terra fits the position of being the main character because everything and everyone in the story revolves around her, her abilities, and other "beings" of her race, we shall call them. This Final Fantasy has to be looked at from a "learn something from everybody" view. Each character goes through some sort of downfall, realization, or promotion in some type of way or in some type of stage in their life. I don't want to enter too much detail, but if someone requests I will show the relationships. (It will be quite a read though). |

But you can complete the game without even meeting Terra in the WoR. Surely that takes away from her being the main character? |

^^ That is a good point but Terra does return after the final battle with Kefka even if you did not get her back in the WoR. The others are sort of referenced like Celes saying something about Locke if he does not rejoin but Terra literally flies to the party and leads them out safely then appears after all the magicite is destroyed saying "Look, she's human now. Hooray happy ending!" |

I'd say Locke as you get to know most of his thoughts, as opposed to Terra. Terra may be the first playable character...but that's all lol. |

By virtue of the fact she was the first playable character, that was my opinion, and throughout the game too. In my opinion, she had the most influence on the story line... Or so I thought. Plus the later involvement she had in Dissidia.... Well, after all, that's all the main characters on the good side right? |
