So which member of the Turk(eys) is your favourite? I have always been a huge a fan of Reno and thought he was one of the coolest characters I had ever seem until CC turned him into Mr. Bean. I mean come on he's simply comic relief in that film and a complete moron- the same man who once had the nerve to trample over holy flowers! Anyway I love Elena (shock horror!) and find her just adorable in the game with her constant slip ups. "Sephiroth is going to Junon!" lol. Why not just give directions too while you're at it- "To get there you have to walk past Fort Condor and you'll see it just after you bump into the young ninja girl- PS if you see a talking stuffed moggle being ridden by a talking cat (not that it's likely that will EVER happen) don't trust him!" Plus who didn't love that scene when she rolled down the hill at Icicle Inn? Bless her cotton socks. CRAP! After all that I voted for Rude by mistake! This is a conspiracy against the turkey people! I will be generous and vote for Elena because you voted for the one Turk I love... RUDE! I love Rude, of all the Turks, he is numero uno followed by Reno and Elena. Rude is such a great character, and he's got the hots for Tifa which is pretty funny. In the movie, although it flat out sucked, Rude made sure that he always keeps an extra pain of shades on him at all times ;). Without the shades, he's nothing... Even though the movie didn't really show the smart assed Rude I love, he still had traces of Rudness in him. I act like Rude most of the time... fight first, give a shit about questions never.

You could probably tell by my sig and avvy who I would vote for. I liked his role in the game but when it came to the movie its like he suddenly turned into a comedian, not complaining though hell I loved him in the movie, he and Rude were the reason I watched 50 times. "You know you're...pretty heavy." was my favorite line from him in the movie, just comes out of no where.

I voted for Reno because he's by far the coolest and him and Rude make great partners. I love it when you go to Gongaga and you over hear Reno and Rude discussing what one of the girls they like the best! The flowers bit is awesome too. He's also go a kick ass character design. I remeber first seeing him and thinking "this guy is badass". |

I'm gonna have to say Rude. His personality to me is just halarious because it's more like me than any of the other Turks. He's very straight and to the point and he's has a sort of quiet attitude, but when he says something it's halarious.

How did I miss this topic? Reno – He was sly and cool, the only one of the Turks daring enough to not dress as formal, perhaps because he knew he was high enough up to get away with it, that or Tseng could care less how they wore the uniform as long as they did their job well, but remember “a pro isn’t someone who sacrifices himself for his job, that’s just a fool”. Again I agree that AC succeeded in nothing other than pissing all over FFVII and its characters. They took Reno’s coolness and bumped it down to comic relief characters. In FFVII Reno is never intentionally funny, he may say a few sly or smartass lines, that in turn are also humorous but that’s part of his character. I like Reno and he’s the kind of character that the majority of people are drawn to given the traits I’ve listed above. Best line “…even the booze taste bad now./Lookin’ at you is makin’ me sober.” Rude – He was quiet most of the time, but whenever he opened his mouth it was short and to the point, the complete opposite of a TMC post. Also he proved that not all black characters have to talk all ghetto/gangster like Barret. He was badass in a kind of silent way similar to Blade, who is also bald and wears shades, see the connection. Rude was cool and the perfect partner to Reno because he evened out Reno’s ability to be rather loud. Again like Reno it seemed a few of his comments were humorous in his own way so perhaps that’s why Advent Children decided to further exploit a minor characteristic in a character. Best line “……..” Elena – I don’t think I ever quite realized just how insane Elena is until my recent play through of FFVII. She reminds me a lot of Elliot from Scrubs, she talks a lot and half the time you’re not sure if she’s talking to you or thinking out loud. When you first meet her she seems to apologize a lot, perhaps because she was in the presence of Tseng whom she secretly (or not so secretly thanks to Reno and Rude) likes. When you meet her in Wutai she is hell bent on continuing her orders and finishing the job even after Reno and Rude shrug it off. Never mess with a Turk on vacation, but more so don’t mess with the newest member who has a lofty dedication to her job that is not to be mistaken for desiring acceptance and respect among her colleges. If anything she seems to be one to try to keep Reno and Rude inline and make sure they follow their orders down to the book. Come to think of it Elena displays as much character growth as any of the main characters, going from the nervous new recruit to a diehard professional who would violate Reno’s rule about sacrificing ones self for their job. This kind of dedication is trait I also see in Tseng and perhaps that’s how these two have landed their fate in AC. Best line "Remember the spirit of the Turks...!" Tseng – Other than the rivalry over whether his name is pronounced sung or sang, and the fact that we never find out whether he can carry a tune, you don’t get to see Tseng quite as much as the other Turks and really don’t see him outside of any sort of authority role other than at the Temple of Ancients where he meets his supposed demise. As such you don’t really get to bond with his character much outside of the professional role they cast him in. I never cared too much for Tseng, but yet his character was necessary to make The Turks seem as high and professional as they were. He like Elena are similar in that they represent the idea behind The Turks in their behavior, they put their job above all else and like a true assassin feel that it is their duty to complete whatever task is given to them or die trying. Best line "Elena, you talk too much." Cissini – I think she only appears in Before Crisis and Crisis Core, for most us that’s going to be from Crisis Core provided that you’ve played it. I’ve only seen the FMV’s/major cut scenes so it’s kind of hard to judge her character. She seems like a mix between Elena and Rude or perhaps Reno and Rude. She seems more reserved like Rude, but like most of the Turks takes her job seriously; however like Reno she is willing to violate orders or simply ignore them based on the circumstances and more so feelings seeing as she is a girl. Now normally most women when in a role like her would act like Elena and regardless of their personal feelings they’d ignore them and shove them aside to the get the job done, but not Cissini. Honestly I don’t know what the point of her character in Crisis Core was. Nothing would have changed if she had been taken out, other than a character who has a crush on Zack and ultimately lets that show how unprofessional and Turk-like she is by letting him and Cloud go; appropriately so for the sake of FFVII. I honestly don’t know who my favorite Turk is. I don’t want to say Reno simply because of the majority that like him, but at the same time I have nothing strongly drawing me to Rude and Elena. I liked them, but I don’t know if I’d put any of them above one another. Perhaps if I find out more about Before Crisis I’ll find another Turk that I like better, but I guess for now out of that list I like Reno the most; however to call him favorite would be a huge disservice to all the other Turks, namely Rude and Elena. Their posse was unbeatable, way better than a white wannabie rapper (Seifer), a black guy with a long stick (Raijin) and a one-eyed white girl with tourettes (Fujin). |

Yeah TMC I was going to say that Cissini is a very pointless character. She got so much screen time, yet if you took her out of the game, nothing would change. I guess her and the "mystery" of her real name is an Before Crisis in-joke that us non Japanese aren't privy too. Anybody else find it odd how Elena, the newest recruit, is actually the best fighter in the boss fights? Reno has the worst stats, but I'd say Rude is the worst due to the amazingly clever fact that he never attacks Tifa unless there's nobody else left, and even then he uses his worst attack. Now that is genius AI. |
