...just broken the forum out of it's lucky streak, this being the 7,778th post.
No need to cast cure though the forum isn't at 1 HP. I know we're all pretty busy and it may not feel like this place is booming, but believe it or not we've come a long way. I just wanted to congratulate everyone who stuck around after the last forum wipe and helped build everything into what it is now. We've already almost got 10,000 posts again. Great work everyone, stay active and most of all keep posting.

Birthweek Polls [nominations]

Well it's almost that time of year again, birthweek. For those who are knew to the site April 13th is the forums birthday so we usually celebrate with an award show (series of polls) for both FF themes and members. At the end of the week we tally up the results and hand out the trophies. Although the forum's birthday is really only one day the festivity last the whole week of the 13th.
This year FFF will be a whopping 6 years old.
Now you may be wondering why I am saying something when we are hardly into March, well that's because a month before birthweek I like to put up all the FF category's for the members to review to see if anything needs to be added and more importantly to nominate some members for the member awards. Remember the main point of this topic is to nominate members for the FFF awards, but if there is something seriously cack or simply missing from the FF polls feel free to make a suggestion. I'm going to try to keep this organized by post so it'll be easy for you guys to read. Don't worry I'll dock myself a couple posts afterwards for triple posting.

Missing Site History Found (sort of)

What would you guys say if I found way to recover what was once lost within certain parameters? I know there were maybe only 3 other members other than myself that liked to browse through some of the older topics of the forum to see what came before your time or even to relive memorable moments. For those that are interested read on.
I stumbled upon this amazing site called Interned Archive Wayback Machine. Simply put in a URL and it can take you back in time in a sense for a specific website. If you click on one of the dates within the list it will take you back to how that website or forum was at that exact date when it was archived. There are still flaws to this method and not all images and URL's work within the archived site, but it is still a neat idea. I've been using it to get content off of Geocities sites that have since ceased to exist.
Then it occurred to me if this works for websites why not a forum as well? Naturally our Zetaboards URL yielded no results so I began a search to reclaim our old URL. Thankfully I had an old banner with our old URL: http://invisionfree.com/forums/Final_Fantasy_Forum
and that proved to lead to something.
Thus I present you all with FFF of the past
The only problem is it only goes back to December 16th 2007 so anything after that is truly lost; however some of the older dates take you back to an older time in site history. It's pretty cool to go back and look at all skins we've had in the past or even see what the forum was like way back when it first started. I remember hearing about a site cock up once way back in the day before I joined, I wonder if this recovered anything from before then.
So browse around and let everyone know if you find anything amazing.
Edit: Ok as it turns out pretty much none of the topics are archived and very few of the forum categories are. So I apologize for getting everyone's hopes up when I didn't fully test it.

Some things have changed some things have been added it's time to make an announcement and let everyone know what they are.
First and foremost a Moomba stole my pants so any help getting those back would be great.
On a more serious note our Affiliate/Top Sites section is now up and literally running across the bottom of the forum. Our first and currently only affiliate is with a site known as Final Fantasy Radio and just like the name implies they play FF music 24/7 so do give them a listen. Also of note is the IRC Chat on the site. We've always had problems in the past with a chat room or shout box on the forum and aside from the original one back in the day we have yet to find one that actually works for everyone. So I'd like to make that FFF's unofficial chat room. Rather if you don't have MSN or AIM and want to chat with fellow forum members and other FF fans in a more direct and instant fashion then I urge you to check that out.
We would also like to affiliate with some other sites and forums so if anyone knows of any good sites they visit and want to promote let either K_D or I or both of us know. The rules for affiliation are as follows:
-Must have strictly FF related content
-Must display a certain amount of activity equal to or greater than FFF and/or has been around on the net for a while
-No personal favors. We wont link to personal sites, DeviantART accounts or even other sites and forums that a current forum member may run or be a part of simply on the basis that they are a member here.
-No Fanclubs, webrings, character shrines nor forums that promote one specific FF or character pairing as we don't want to promote any sort of bias within the series.
-Must return the favor and link to FFF somewhere largely visible on their site.
Basically we're looking for Final Fantasy related sites with original content and forums with about the same activity and close-nit community that we display and promote. Nothing that is just starting with little to no hits, but also none of the larger sites like the AC.net Forums or FF Compendium; most of which wouldn't affiliate with us anyway seeing as we don't meet their demands for excessive activity. Also I would like to stress that if you want to affiliate with us you must have a link back to us on your site/forum and should preferably be somewhere that is just a viewable as our own affiliate section. All I ask for is the same respect we show our Affiliates. In other words if you plan on hiding the link to our site within a mass of other links then don't bother.
Also I've added a few things to the BBCode, rather made some of the more commonly used ones visible like the ability to embed videos display coding and more importantly the spoiler tag. Don't forget in the full screen reply you can click on "Full BBCode List" and see the full list of codes featuring all kinds of other stuff like superscript, subscript, borders, font, highlights and a list code among other things.

Given the rapid decline in activity lately I assume that everyone is quite busy, understandable, I’m to blame for that as well. This topic is a mass bump or reminder if you will of various events going on in the forum that seem to have been neglected as of late.
First off I’d like to remind everyone that all questions for The Great Final Fantasy Trivia Challenge are due by November 1st which is rapidly approaching. So if you haven’t done so already please take time to sit down and think about some questions. More details on that from K_D as the time nears.
Also of mention is the RP forum which seems to have screeched to a halt. Red Demon has got his futuristic fantasy RP A Dark World, meanwhile Logarithms is still waiting for some people to sign up for his medieval fantasy RP Warring Elements. Yes I know I said I’d join this and I will, I’m still trying to think of a name and a decent background for my character, but we’re going to need more people.
Then there’s the Golden Gate Tournament hosted in the RP section. All of you who signed up for that know who you are, as Amarant already said in the Intro topic lets strive for at least one new post per week from each contestant.
I would also like to point attention to the FFVII Group Playthrough which has also hit a brick wall. Those of you who are participating and our host Red Demon let’s not forget about the rest of the game we haven’t even made it past Disc One yet. I know I’ve only made it up to Chapter III and have neglected this for Brutal Legend, but I’ve completed that and plan on getting back into the group playthrough. Two chapters isn’t much to catch up with everyone and I’d love to continue discussion about it. If you haven’t joined the Group Playthough of FFVII, please look into it, it’s a lot of fun; like playing a game with a group of your friends, except they aren’t actually there with you.
Lastly the FFF Halloween Sig Battle is still open and there are still a couple contestants that need to make signatures.
Again I know everyone is busy and rightly so especially as the holiday season approaches, but please if you can, set aside at least 10 minutes of time to come to the forum. If some of the busiest people can find time for a 10 minute workout then I think we can all find 10 minutes of our day for FFF. Any activity is good activity, but more importantly I’d like people to focus on the stagnant events I have listed here in this topic.
