The trunk went flying off when we hit the timbered land and the humps. Fllliiiing, the damned thing shot right by me. It was from J.C.Whitney and had a base that held it on, kinda. I either have to mount it permanent or leave it off? Not sure what I'll do yet? Piece of crap.....well the trunks o.k. The mounting bracket sucked. |

Does your DR have a big screw right under the rack? That might be a good spot to attach it. A friend of mine gave me a small bag and zip tied it to my rack, but my wife sewed two clips on so I could remove it with a snap! Did you know there was a rain jacket in the bottom? What a Great Guy.

Here's the trunk I had on my KLR. It's by RubberMaid. I got it at Wal-Mart. Always Buddah Tim would beg to put his cellphone and camera in it during rainstorms. i was looking at some of these trunks that come from the factory on the atv's and they have tailight in them, they are much smaller but could be mounted easy.(and i have about 5 of them.) |

I think I need to find a trunk bag, but I don't want it to be over 5" high by about 12"x12" that way it should be plenty big to carry some snacks, a few tools and some rain gear. If it was much higher then that, I couldn't get my leg over it. Course it has to be cheap, and have snaps. Hard bags are nice, but, they are hard! Any Ideas?

They are not cheep but the pelican case is water tight and one tough case. I lucked out and got two used and had to cut plates to cover holes in the sides they are the 1500 and I gave $10.00 each. They make different sizes. I ordered a tail-bag from Motorcycle Superstore on Tuesday and it came in today. It's alittle taller then I wanted but I think it will work fine. It is approx. 9" high by 12"x13" when the sides are extended by zipping a zipper open. It is a Cortech by Tourmaster and you can get saddlebags to match, and they snap together. Total cost was $62.99 shipping included. Now all I need is a rain jacket. I had one for a short time, but one of my dear friends needed it more then I.

My wife and I went to Academy just south of Tyler today and I purchased a rain coat. They had Frogg Toggs there but I went for the cheap jacket and saved $30.00 bucks. The Frogg skins were too bulky, but I have heard they are great. You can take me off the Goodwill Xmas list, but thanks for looking. I can't hold my breath for 310 secounds.

I washed the DR yesterday and cleaned and oiled the chain. It's a lot easier with out the chain guard. I also discovered two missing bolts that are supposed to hold the front fender on the fork. It already had two holding it on so I tightened thoes two and added the other two. It might be prudent to check all bolts when washing the beast! Bet you didn't know I knew such a big word!!
