So here's how it works: You register for MyPoints (it's free) and then use their site as a starting-point when you shop online. If you know you're buying a book, you go to the site, find the bookseller partner sites on there (like Barnes & Noble or Alibris), and click through to them via MyPoints to do your shopping. MyPoints tracks your purchases and gives you however many Points per dollar spent (for some sellers it might be two Points per dollar, some might give you ten—you can choose which deal you like the best). You can also get Points without spending money. For instance, there's a whole arm of the program dedicated to market-research surveys. You can get a couple hundred Points just for spending ten minutes doing a survey, and those add up after a while. You can also get Points for registering at other websites, using the MyPoints search tool and reading the MyPoints emails (you usually get 5 Points just for clicking through to read more about each offer—that adds up over time, too). So potentially, you could never spend a dime and end up with gift cards. The downside is, you do get a lot of email. At first, it's overwhelming, but if you set up a rule to send them all to one folder, and go through that folder at your leisure, you can get the Points without feeling spammed. Bottom line: it doesn't cost anything, so you may as well give it a try. click here |
