FireShot is a Firefox extension that creates screenshots of web pages. Unlike other extensions, this plugin provides a set of editing and annotation tools, which let users quickly modify captures and insert text and graphical annotations. Such functionality will be especially useful for web designers, testers and content reviewers. It's possible to choose whether entire web page or only visible part of this page should be captured. Screenshots can be saved to disk (PNG, JPEG, BMP), copied to clipboard, e-mailed and sent to external editor for further processing.

Adds the ability to take a screenshot of web page (entire of visible part), edit it, add annotations and save (PNG, JPEG, BMP), copy to clipboard, send to external editor or e-mail it.

Q:
What is FireShot?

A:
Oooh, I'm so glad you asked! FireShot was actually mentioned on our message board the other day by user "sharber60" and after trying it out for myself, I instantly fell in love. FireShot is definitely one of my favorite new programs. So, what is it? Well, FireShot is a new Firefox extension that allows you to take your own screenshots of Web pages you visit, among other things. Keep reading to find out everything this awesome little program can do for you. Let's go!

Once you install FireShot on your computer, you will be able to create your own screenshots and, get this, edit them too! Yep, FireShot comes with a full set of editing and annotation tools so that you can capture exactly what you want from every Web page you go to. For example, you can modify the screenshots you take with the cropping, sharpening, etc. tools, but then you can go on and insert text or even add graphical annotations to your images. These new features are perfect for anyone who may be designing their own Web page or just anyone who wants to try something different. I don't know of any other screenshot programs that allow you to do this kind of stuff. It's wonderful!

When I'm taking screenshots with Windows, one of my biggest pet peeves is that it only captures what is currently sitting on top of a Web page or even on my desktop. I mean, what if you want to get an image of something in the background as well? Well, FireShot can do that for you! FireShot integrates with the Firefox Web browser to give you both the entire Web page you're viewing, plus the material that is currently displayed on top. So, if you're tired of only getting a portion of what you want in your screenshots, you've got to give this a try!

Also, just in case you were wondering how all of this is possible, FireShot is based on the source code of Screenshot Studio. With that, they were able to generate only the best for you, including a transparent GUI, vector graphic tools and bitmap processing algorithms. All you have to do to capture the best possible screenshot is take it, apply any modifications you want to make, add in any text or annotations you'd like and then save it. It's quick, it's very easy to do and you'll create the best screenshots you've ever made!

Now, I bet there are a couple other things you're interested in knowing about FireShot. Am I right? Well, first of all, the screenshots you take can be saved to disk (flash drive, CD, etc.) in a JPEG, PNG or BMP format, they can be copied to your clipboard for later use or you can even e-mail them to a friend or colleague for some editing help. That way, if you feel like you need a second opinion on your screenshot, you can get that very easily.

Along with all of that, FireShot is 100 percent free and you can use it from any computer at any time. As long as it's installed on that computer, you're free to use it as you want. The Mozilla company also urges you to share the news about FireShot with your friends and family members. You can even put it on your blog or Web site to spread the word about it. I mean, why keep this good of a program all to yourself?!

To download FireShot for yourself, just click here. Click on the big green Install Now button and follow the install directions. It only takes a few minutes and then you can start creating your very own screenshot masterpiece. I hope you have fun with this one. It really is a neat little program and it definitely brings something new and exciting to the table. Check it out today!
