First of all I would like everyone to take a walk down memory lane and read a brief summary of the early history of the Elite Clan's creation and evolution: August 27, 2002 Release of Socom for PS2, Modem for PS2. Cobra's Notes: I drove a couple of Best Buys away to get my hands on the modem in order to play Madden online. While I was being rung up, the guy had the last copy of Socom at the counter that someone didn't end up buying. I went ahead and bought it not expecting much. August 28, 2002 Elite Sniper purchases his copy of Socom, Creation of the Elite Force Clan. Elite Ranger purchases and joins the clan later that week. Cobra's Notes: This began many sleepless nights in my small efficiency with a setup of three televisions side-by-side. From the time work ended until we said, "Oh shit I have to get up for work in a few hours.", we played. October 7, 2002 First Official Clan Match against the Elite Delta Force Clan (playing 3-on-3 Abandoned, Night Stalker, Desert Glory). Cobra's Notes: It ended up being a handicap match, with only Black Rider and Cleansweep showing up for the Opposition. The victory was one of the greatest in Elite history, not because of the win, but because Black Rider would later become Elite JT/Black Rider and Cleansweep would be Elite Slayer/Black Knight. Along with them came Elite Scorch/Black Flame. Their joining Elite gave the clan a presence that it had not had up until that point. JT and Slayer were two of the most reliable regulars who were not only always at the top of the kill list, but played a well-round team game. After that match, we amassed a clan of great players, but more importantly good fun people. We were a clan that put respect & integrity before anything else. Here is a list of the early Elite members that I had the pleasure of playing with: The Core Cobra (Dragon), Sniper (Ghost), Ranger Cobra's Notes: Sniper was and still is the one of the best legitimate players to ever grace a controller. While there aren't many that could duplicate Sniper's consistency and body count, Ranger wasn't far behind, taking on more strategic & specialized roles on the battlefield. The Boys from Illinois Hitman, Kosar, Lucky Cobra's Notes: Hitman was our 5th member, he brought in Kosar & Lucky early on making them some of the first members. Flood Clan (NH Boys) T, Stacks, Gman, Spawn, Bear, Combat, Daface (Widow), Drugs (Twigs, Lung), Pass2 Cobra's Notes: Liltee (T) harassed the Elite rooms with his legion of Flood members for a long time, this was of course before it became known that he was dying to be a part of Elite. Each of them brought different styles that added to our arsenal, but just as importantly they brought loyalty and numbers. The Elite finally had what a full roster. The IceBlade Ice, Bladez, Kazi, and later Munkey Cobra's Notes: The fastest guns in the West. Two of the best Elite players in history in Ice and Bladez added more MVPs to an already talented roster. U.S. Navy Bullitt (Frog), Squid (Rage) Cobra's Notes: Frog played early on and introduced Squid - who would become a good friend to the Elite and enthusiastic loyal member. Croatian Canadians Snake, Bullet, Silent, Deadly Cobra's Notes: These crazy Canadians provided extra rushing power in a clan that focused on camping and flanking. Ryman Cobra's Notes: The 4th member of the Elite Clan. Ryman was an excellent camper and specialist who played a great team game. He was also a funny bastard. Puty (Shadow) Cobra's Notes: Another one of us Florida boys who finally came around and bought a PS2 and Socom. FNG (FOG) Cobra's Notes: After playing in our rooms week after week, I asked him to join. He initially declined, but finally albeit reluctantly joined a clan. A behind the scenes leader who assisted me with many decisions. Wolf Cobra's Notes: A well rounded player who could play any role that we needed. 40oz Cobra's Notes: A great player that didn't have much time for Socom. While he was on, he did damage and made us laugh almost as much as Ryman. Barbie Cobra's Notes: Early member who loved the game and played as much as he could. Barbie was a rusher in a clan of campers early on. Regardless he could go off and do it on his own. Acid Cobra's Notes: The ever patient Acid was another well rounded player who played an excellent team game and proved one of the most faithful to the Elite. WarGod Cobra's Notes: The quietest player in the history of the game. I think I heard him say 3 words the whole time he played. He did all of his talking with his gun. Good player and MVP getter. Merc Cobra's Notes: He liked to float around to different clans, but he always favored the Elite. A good rusher and player who eventually left the Com for the real Military. Colorz Cobra's Notes: A fast paced player with a gun and mouth to match.October 15, 2002 First Elite Web Site Goes Up Cobra's Notes: This brought about the sought after Elite Awards. Some of you may remember Head Hunters, Grave Diggers, Flawless, Demolition Expert, Extraction Awards, and of course Rambos just to name a few. January 11, 2003 SHQ Tournament - first official Tournament (lost in a tie breaker in the Championship game to the Shadow Assassins). Cobra's Notes: Through this tournament, I would meet Ajax (who was formerly with SHQ, our future relationship would gain us an invitation to the National Socom League or NSL). February 26, 2003 Original Elite disbanded - T & Snake kept some of the players together, creating new factions of the Elite and they brought on new players. April 6, 2003 Cobra, Sniper, & Ranger create the first Black names Black Dragon, Black Ghost, & Black Karma respectively (and have fun harassing the unknowing Elite). Of course Ranger went to Black Ranger quickly after everyone was made aware of the who was behind the Black. Cobra's Notes: Reinvigorated by an email from Ajax about the NSL, I decided it was time to start fresh. I slowly began recruiting select members for Black Out. April 15, 2003 Entered the clan into the NSL as Black Out. April 20, 2003 Liltee and select followers create their Black Out names. April 24, 2003 The first NSL Season 1 games are played. July 7, 2003 Black Out wins the first season of the NSL with a record of 20-1, beating DOA (Ajax's team) in a best of 5 - taking it to the very last round. Late 2004 I left my full time duties as the leader of Black Out. At this point T took the leadership and continued on the Black Out tradition. While I am not familiar with all of the new members that have come and gone, I have been fortunate to meet several of them on other games and enjoy playing with them. A few in particular that I have had the privelege of playing with in several different games on the PS3 are Static & Bull. Black Out continued on to play in several more seasons of the NSL along with other Tourneys and Game Battle games. Socom 2, 3, and Combined Assault would continue to provide fun for those of us that kept up. Despite heavy lag, boots, and unfortunately cheaters, we we still managed to make the most of it, and for a lot of us, we had an experience that has carried on through today and other games that we have played together. Many of us remain in touch today through modern gaming networks and still play together when our gaming interests cross paths. On a personal level - I am amazed by all that has happened over the years; there have been high school graduations, college graduations, new found careers, divorces (that's for you T), marriages, new children, and even some fun encounters amongst clan members. Of course some of us just got older. In December of 2003, several of us met in New York and went to a football game to watch the Jets get pummeled by the Patriots. In 2004, FNG was in Florida and visited the guys down here. Stacks moved to Florida and came to work at the company I work for. He has since moved back to NH. I got married, bought my first house, and now have a 1 year old son. Sniper/Ghost did the same and has a 2 year old son. Ranger is currently in college working towards a new career. So in commemoration of the Elite/Black Out clan and it's members of the past 8 years, I will be creating the Elite Eight Legends (Top 8 Black Out Elite Squad as voted on by their peers). This list is not meant to represent the top MVP getters, but rather the members that when you hear their name, you think Black Out Elite. These are the members that robbed time from their sleep and loved ones to be their when the clan needed them the most. These are members that camped when the clan needed win, even if they were a kill away from the MVP. These are the guys that had unquestionable loyalty to the values and rules of the Elite clan. I played with so many guys that never got an MVP, but regardless of that I couldn't think of going into battle without them. Don't get me wrong, players like Sniper and Ice who were top MVP getters absolutely possess these qualities and will get my vote, but I don't want people to vote solely on performance. Pick the guys that you want to have at your back. In order to vote - you must send an email from your personal email account to me at elitecobra2000@yahoo.com or send it to my PS3 user (send friend invite to Elite_Cobra if you are not on my friend list) with only your votes. You are highly encouraged to pass this on to other Elite members to ensure that everyone gets to vote. The process is simple: 1. You get 10 votes. 2. You can put a maximum of 3 votes towards any 1 member. 3. You must vote for a minimum of 4 members, but may distribute each individual vote to 10 different members. 4. Members not in my list may absolutely be written in and voted on. 5. There is nothing wrong with a positive self image, but votes for you yourself WILL NOT COUNT. I considered this carefully and reasoned that self-voting ends up washing each other out and takes away from votes for your team members. I look forward to getting your votes and having everybody back together for the new Socom. Voting will end on August 27th, so that I will have time to compile them and create a web page with the results for August 28th, the 8-year Anniversary of the clan.
